Senior Gauteng health department financial officer Babita Deokaran, who was gunned down outside her Johannesburg South home on Monday, was a witness in the Special Investigating Unit’s probe into PPE purchase irregularities.

Police on Monday said 53-year-old Deokaran, who died in hospital, was shot outside her home in Mondeor shortly after dropping her daughter at school.

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, speaking to TimesLIVE, confirmed that Deokaran was a witness in their investigation into the Gauteng PPE scandal.

This is why I hate to make comments like these on Mybroadband,

People expect to get caught, and I am saying it now, you have organised crime all over the world in every nook and cranny, but we didn't stop there we also have organised tenders. Please don't tell me the tender system isn't corrupt, it is an oasis within our dire economy where the connected thrive.

the patterns are becoming all too predictable. Just sad that the heroes die. I hope the killers, yes, including the enablers will keep this on their conscious,

Deokaran was shot several times outside her Mondeor home after dropping off her child at school on Monday morning.

scum.
