For around R18 500 I can sli two EVGA gtx 780 Ti SC w/ACX cooling or get a single dual chip gpu (terminology?), the R-295X2 with water cooling for around R21 000.

Which is the better bet for gaming on 1080p?
This is a debate I'm having with a friend, I suggested a single 780 Ti...

Here's the SA price etc for the amd card for those wondering, http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20&products_id=12488

For gaming on 1080p going dual-sli on 780s is total overkill.

But besides that, the single-card dual gpu setups are usually clocked slower than the single gpu cards they are based on. Checks the specs, check some benchmarks (especially on whatever games you want to play on it) then make up your mind.

First off, no sane person will buy these just to game on 1080p. It completely makes your argument null and void, since a GTX780 or R9 290X will already be more than enough.

From what I have seen from benchmarks, the R9 295x2 outperforms SLi GTX780 Ti's on 1440p. In that price range R2k shouldn't make a difference. Since you'll already be spending a ridiculous amount of money, why not get the best? Or, you can buy the 2x 780 Ti and take some of that money, add it to the fortune you have, and be silly again and buy a 4k monitor :p

All I can say is, OMW Don't buy from rebeltech, if there is something wrong with the product they WON'T exchange it R21k in the water is something you don't want rather pay a little bit more and get that from a reputable dealer

EDIT*: Pay less http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...x2-pci-express-3-0-desktop-graphics-card.html

Do elaborate? Rebeltech is one of the most reputable dealers out there. My headphones are currently in for warranty, expecting return on Thursday.

I agree with all of you that is it complete overkill for 1080p gaming, as said - this trying to convince my friend not to get those cards, I don't plan on getting these as I literally just purchased a 780 Ti and couldn't be happier and that he should also get a 780Ti or a R9-290X.

But as a quick hijack, is it normal that my card would lag on skyrim? I do have a few 2k texture packs installed and playing on the highest settings.

Im trying to save up for a 780Ti, a single one will max out BF4 @1080P.

If you are going for a 780Ti I highly recommend THIS one.

Do you have the "Enable 4GB Ram" mod?

Do you have EVGA precision installed?

I would definitely go for an R9 series as apposed Nvidia. If you look up benchmarks and gaming performance you will see that R9 series graphics cards outperform Nvidia at the same price point.
