<i>"Simple - you attach a PCMCIA or USB wireless modem to the notebook PC - or other handheld mobile device. Then you connect to the Internet using one of three packages - MyWireless128, 256 or 512. The service is offered at a fixed monthly fee and we don't cap the service on usage - you can send and receive as much data as you like according to your package, for no extra charge," says Smith</i>

Now didnt we get their UUP to tell us not to use the internet in order to get more intetnet or something like that.

Am I confused or is smith lying?

<i>"Wireless Internet connections used to be all about compromise," says Smith. "Compromise in performance, speed and costs - which were high. Broadband wireless brings useful wireless Internet technology within reach for businesses and consumers."</i>

and

<i>"So, now, whether you're in a coffee shop in a shopping mall or waiting for a flight at the airport, you can be more productive by being online at speeds that eclipse traditional dial-up wire connections,"</i>

And the sky is green and the moon is made of cheese!

Dude WTF??? Seriously though, this isn't just lying, this is FRAUD. Any lawyers around? My days of studying law are far behind, but I seriously think this is now crossing the line from mere lying through your teeth to actually committing fraud.

The only benefit atm that wireless internet has is it's mobile and comes at a flat rate. There is still a compromise in performance, speed and cost. As for "useful wireless Internet technology" uhm ... only at the cost.

Typical of Sentech to assume that Smiths 1 month project plan and implementation of the "bandwidth management tool" is going to be successful, and he then starts punting the product again. What happens when another few hundred users sign up and things stay the same, or get worse. I feel that as a company they have no foresite. They've been bitten once, but obviously it didn't hurt enough.

Telkom who?

Has anyone tried to use MyWireless much without AC power? When I tried I found I could hope for about half an hour battery life, but that may be skewed as some of that was spent looking for signal, and perhaps like cellphones they increase the transmission power when looking for a signal.

I think they long ago crossed over into 'fraud', they knew about the speed problems for months while still lying about it and denying it. What bothers me is, despite endless technical problems, they seemingly don't just hire a few clued-up local guys to help run their network and be done with it. They do exist. Yet they seemingly only hire (probably the cheapest) monkeys they can find (ProAsm excepted, who is apparently no longer in MW), and then fly half of IPWireless over here, rather than just fork out for a few good local people in the first place. How can you run this sort of network without *some* strong in-house technical expertise? Are they suffering from the "only the clever foreigners can manage a product as complex as ours" syndrome?

I've had good experience, I often used to go warDriving when my tower was giving problems, and while the modem was looking for signal, connected to ProAsms mySignal, I was getting charged by the USB, yes, my battery power went up, not down!

Been trying to see how far modem will stretch without AC. Under low or no load it seems to charge of the USB.

Very ...... very slowly though ........

Pass the pringles please ....
