For the last three days the MTN data service has been unusably slow, and if this continues any longer it would be impossible to use my complete data bundle before the month period expires.

They should firtsly attend to the speed problems and secondly compensate by extending the expiry, or some other gesture they can come up with.

To all the fellow complainants,

Please take a few minutes of your time (OK hours if you use MTN HSDPA...) and post a few comments on www.hellopeter.com. If you can browse through some of the comments, myself and member Piesang have been actively posting about the c#$% service this JSE listed company is delivering to it's customers. MTN does reply, although it is the typical weak generic non-specific responses that MTN almost copies and pastes to each complaint.

Alternatively how about the moderators assisting us in compiling a group complaint/petition that can be forwarded to the PR Department Head. I noticed there are some contact details on the MTN.com website.

OK here´s another idea. Correct me if I am wrong but in the USA there is a thing such as a class action. I extracted a piece from the this website http://law.freeadvice.com/financial_law/broker_disputes/class_action.htm, quoted as:

A "class action" is a civil suit brought by one or more people on behalf of themselves and others who are similarly situated. In other words, the others are in a substantially similar circumstance where the common issues are the most critical to the lawsuit. For example, if a large number of consumers is injured as a result of an allegedly defective product, the principal issue will be whether the product caused the injury. Some examples of class actions are those brought against the manufacturers of allegedly defective or hazardous products, such as asbestos, certain vaccines, Agent Orange, tobacco, and breast implants. Only then will the question of how badly each party was injured be heard.

Class actions may also be brought on contracts. For example, all customers of America Online could claim damages when it went to its $19.95 per month rate - with inadequate capacity to handle the increased traffic."

Now I am no lawyer but surely someone here knows one that can comment on the relevance over in SA.

Thoughts?

I also find the speed recently quite crappy
I am about 2 kays from closest tower, and the speed is usually poor, even though if I maneuver the E220 with long USB cable I get 75% to full HSDPA signal. Still the max (not consistent or even average) I used to get was about 400kbps.
Now the past few days, switching between EDGE only and HSDPA, even with full signal I don't seem to get past about 90kbps.
So much for 'High Speed' in HSDPA (including other unholy thoughts about the service) :)
Getting work done at night via VPN over this s-l-o-w HSDPA network is terrible.
I also have a few complaints/queries in with MTN for a few months already, so far no news of feedback or improvement.
Suppose the MTN guys at planning reckon, well there is HSDPA coverage, so our job is done.
I even got E220 to replace E620 for improved signal and 'speed' what a waste
I need another tower please, not to mention all the other guys in the complex behind me, further from the tower, who have no HSDPA signal at all...

Slow Connections in Rivonia too..

Experiencing the same slow speeds in Rivonia too. I am lucky if I average more than 100kbps these days.

Same slow speeds in Somerset West.

@MTNDD

Please make some kind of comment. Your silence feels like an insult. It is better to say. We are looking into the problem, than NOTHING!!!!
