Slow downloads?

Why is it when I download a file (downloaded a file from my server now, mrg.za.net) and also from Flashget site. Both downloads go at around 4kb per second, when I open multiple streams it goes at full speed 55kb for my line.

Internet Explorer etc that uses one stream downloads freaking slowly, whats up?
