Good day.

For some reason when I copy files from my windows xp pc to my windows 7 pc it is incredibly slow.

It would average at about 4MB/s and during the copying my pc would become slow as hell, the mouse would jitter across the screen instead of moving smoothly and everything takes forever to open.

When checking the task manager the system idle process is about 95% yet at the bottom it would show that the cpu usage is ~60%

Any ideas what it could be?

PS: the windows xp has service pack 3 and both computers have all the latest windows updates.

:( i remember having an issue like that a while back....sadly i cannot remember the solution.
Try use a copy manager application like teracopy and see if it makes a difference?

Is teracopy like a server/client type of thing? Or do I only have to install it on the pc that I'll be sitting at? (ie. the win 7 pc)

Its a client side application that takes over from your normal windows copying.
Not sure if it will help (actually dont think so..but i have no other ideas..), but its a good thing to have anyways..
