Slow Rain LTE, Is it Rain's business strategy for 5G?

Over the past couple of weeks rain customers have been complaining about slow speeds or no connection at all even with full network strength.

Remembering how Rain did not hesitate to basically "kill" Fixed LTE in favour of Rain Mobile. Is it possible that they are intentionally killing Rain Mobile in favour of Rain 5G since currently their uncapped LTE is the only affordable competitor to their Rain 5G when looking at both the fibre and wireless internet offerings in the market.

Since the slow Rain LTE problems i have been seriously contemplating getting Rain 5G when it becomes available. I want fast internet and there is no Fibre in my area.

If this is their strategy it is working. Get them hooked on fast R250 LTE then take it away and offer them a faster 5G at four times the price.

Is it possible this is just a business strategy from Rain? Surely makes business sense to me!

Just my opinion, tell me what you guys think!!!

I never asked ignorant people like you but anyway since you asked there is a screen capture.

And i noted that most of you "with fine connections" live outside the areas that rain plans to cover with 5G so your connections are not really affected by 5G implementation.

If you are not experiencing any sort of problems with Rain LTE currently just know 5G is years away from your area :D

The 4G network should be back to normal within the next month but I expect similar network issues everytime they expand into a new city.

The R250 product is 1: essentially marketing for their eventual 5G network, 2: some supplemental income to help them rollout their 5G network even faster.

I'm pretty sure rain is using the silicone valley strategy of "Get Big Fast"

How many anti-rain threads are you going to make? If you're not happy with the service, move to someone else. It really isn't that hard
That is your problem, not mine, I was one of the first to use Rain Fixed LTE and Rain Mobile, and i am on the waiting list of Rain 5G. I am a big fan of rain, these are not anti rain threads, they are my opinions on rain and their strategies which are resulting in bad experience for me. I don't see where i said people should stay away from it.

What do you want me to do? Follow the average user flock and just do speedtest threads even when i am having a bad experience with rain? Its the truth, oh wait South Africans don't want the truth right?

I write these as i care about rain, and their bad network these days means i can't go bragging and giving it word of mouth marketing as i used to. My friends are on rain cause of me so it gets bad i look like i sold them on a bad service.

Grow up man and stand the truth!

On the 4G network i am not that sure about us getting the usual LTE experience we used to get as their 5G signals rely on their LTE antennas and signal to get more coverage, but we will see.

The 250 is their entry product and they are up-selling us now to a more profitable R1000 product. I also think the vodacom roaming deal is what is helping them financially to roll out 5G this quick. Once their 5G is stable Vodacom might also launch their own 5G offering using rains 5G network which will mean more money for rain. That is great business from Rain

Yeah the Vodacom roaming is a scary prospect and if their 5G service is a 24 month contract I'll be very apprehensive in taking it because of the potential of Vodacom Roaming destroying the network

Lol what drivel. I'll pay R1k for an uncapped 4g service as well anyway at current speeds.

I tried their 5G, it is utter crap. You basically pay to get a modem and then you are screwed. You have a fancy new modem but the you have some of the worst speeds with this 5G. The other networks are expensive, but at least they bloody work.
