"Small companies no longer need to do BEE"

I think the truth here is that firstly there's no way to monitor the thousands of small companies effectively and secondly, to force them all to comply would see many businesses simply go under, because of the legacy of poor black education and the continuing issues facing the education system now.

There's already been messages sent out by government indicating they want white people overseas to return - it's down to simple economics and experience. To see a highly skilled work force slowly draining away is obviously going to set alarm bells ringing. Skilled people teach others to be skilled. Without those people, the proverbial poo will hit the fan.

I just wish the ANC led government wouldn't keep on throwing the baby out with the bathwater and then making embarrasing backtracks when they realise that their decisions were politically motivated instead of economically.

I still want an explanation as to how a ONE person organisation becomes BEE compliant.
According to the article, micro-sized companies are effectively BEE compliant...

black paint! (one arm and one leg) (the ones Telkom hasn't taken for your telephony services)

It's a positive move to see the government taking a slightly different stance on BEE for SMME's. SMME's need skilled staff, what ever colour or creed they are.

It's difficult enough finding good staff and managment as it is, without reducing the possible canidates to a few skilled people who are in LARGE demand by large corporates with large bank accounts.

Help

Most small companies never complied with the law anyway...

Companies like M-NET and SABC insist on it.

Tell the producers that you're too small to be considered for BEE. They are simply blindly following orders from management. Maybe even keep that article and forward it to them when they ask again.

If they still have a problem either expand your current client and service options or get an AA compliant member on board.

Oh and from what I've heard SABC are know for being BEE-Nazis, I'd suggest courting other channels or try moving to TVC's. Ad agencies are more realistic and pay better.

Maybe this is the catch:

Radebe said that QSEs are still encouraged to get 25% black ownership and to comply with all seven elements which they would be given bonus points for.

So basically they say, don't need to be BEE anymore, but if you're not you'll not get that extra points for the juicy contracts. So they effectively opened the door, but placed a security gate on the other end.

Why dont you phone Micheal Jackson. He used some stuff to turn white. Surely he must have contacts for the same stuff that will turn you black.

And then you can do business with DSTV & SABC. Hehe
