I live in Johannesburg. Today, without any appointment, city power officials arrived in my area to install smart meters. If you were not home because you are at work then they disconnect power form the home or if you say you do not want a smart meter or you are on your way out and they have to return latter, they disconnect your power.
They also leave a letter not addressed to you or on you address that according to bylaws, they may disconnect your power until you get a smart meter. I had a look at the bylaws of Johannesburg and section 14, the only section that mentioned disconnection, states nothing like that.
I am not sure what I should do. Please advise if they are in there right to do this and what to do if they are not in there rights..
