I requested Joburg for a pre-paid smart meter and was charged over R2000 for it. It was installed but set up as a post-paid meter so I phoned around for some help. Joburg referred me to City Power and they couldn't help me at the Midrand depot. I found a contact number for Smart Meter Support and they will help.
However, they told me that I should not have been charged for the new meter as it is compulsory to convert to one.
Before I spend large chunks of time trying to get the money back from Joburg, can anyone shed some light on the situation; do I pay or they were wrong to charge me?
