Smartphones to look forward to in 2024

Smartphone shoppers eager to get their hands on the latest and greatest devices can look forward to a year filled with high-profile releases.

All of the smartphone industry's big names — including Apple, Google, and Samsung — are expected to roll out new flagship devices this year.

As the article suggests, smart phones have plateaud in terms of functionality. It's now just a gimmick to keep people in that 2 year sales cycle.

My cheap Samsung A23 works like a bomb, and if it gets stolen or broken, replacing it is like buying a cheap TV

So bigger displays, faster processors. more internal space as that is all they can seem to do.

Lol it doesn't even have a proximity or ambient light sensor.

Smartphones have plateaued for many years ago.

The tangible diff between a 2020 phone & a 2023/4 phone (like for like) is extremely marginal for normal use cases.

Remind me why the Google Pixel phones are not available here in ZA ?
I acquired a Pixel 7 Pro overseas end of 2022 and it's been a great phone.

Will be a keeping a eye on the Samsung A55. Our company phones are due for upgrade and we currently using the A52s. Love my phone. Wish the A55 came with Snapdragon instead on Xynos. Seems online consensus tends to be that a Snapdragon always beats Xynos when it comes to performance and thermal management and camera optimisation.

This is exactly what an iPhone user will say.....

With 50% battery life left.

Yep, I bought the 7a in Germany. It is one of the best phones I have ever used. Such a nice difference from the usual poef we get in SA.

Interesting. I'd notice the lack of an ambient sensor, would be annoying constantly having to adjust brightness when I leave the house.
So it uses the front camera instead of the sensor, it's not very responsive like an ambient sensor, but not bad enough to cause me any stress

It will most likely be the best phone on the market compared to the others listed. No brainer.
