Smartphones with the best cameras in 2022

Smartphone cameras continue to improve every year, and for many, the photographic capability of the device is often one of the most critical factors when deciding to buy a smartphone.

However, several factors determine camera performance, including pixel size, megapixel count, and processing power, but this can be difficult to measure.

anything is better than my note 11 pro was .sometimes would only take half a photo and you only find out when you go back to the gallery .

Similar problem with my iPhone 13 Pro. Many photos have some sort of weird blurry index finger in them. Hope Apple fixes that issue.

While the iPhone Pro phones obviously have great cameras in general, the true value is apparent once you're browsing your pics in the Photos app on Mac, iPad or iPhone. The 'live photos' feature is just mind-blowing and captures the 'moment' of a pic in a way that a regular photo cannot. You can't even compare the magic of that experience and being able to see and hear a few seconds around each live photo.

I'd imagine all of those cameras listed surpass the abilities of the majority of the people using them.

Not a fan.

No a fan.
Yes, used live photo for a week or two when it first came out and never again. If I want a video I would take one

You're the first person I've heard say that. What about it don't you like? Scrolling through a gallery of family pics that are all animated with audio, I must say I'm astonished how anyone would rather have conventional still pics.

Most people call that video.

I’m sure I’m in the minority but if I wanted my gallery to look like the cover of the Daily Prophet I would have become a videographer instead of a photographer.

I like the story a single frame can tell. It’s just how I’m wired.

Except few people like someone running around capturing video all the time, and fewer still want to edit all that nonsense to produce something of value. Whereas live photos are very different even beyond the amount of effort required. They're all the little moments of people talking or looking around just before posing for the pic, it's the water, trees and leaves moving in the wind, it's the sound of someone laughing or talking that corresponds to the pic etc. It's literally an infinite possibility of small moments that breathe life into regular still pics.

Sometimes I'll just take a brief look through a random album just because it's such an incredible connection to the people, pets, events and places that you love (and especially those you don't see often or can never experience again).

If you're into stories, live photos blow the socks off a still photo.

Only Xiaomi could release a product that got significantly worse as a product line goes forward.

The Note 11 Pro is literally all around worse than the Note 9 Pro from 2 years ago.

Does it even have 4K recording...?

Could be the Samsung Note 11 pro he was referring to. My sister had one and it had the same camera problem.

Regarding the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro, you can clearly see it was a product of the chip shortage.

Much like the average graphics card in use by steam users is a 1650, where two years ago it was a 1060. It's the first time the average graphics card got slower for as long as the survey has been going.

Samsung Note 11 pro
There's no such thing. After the Samsung Note 10, it's the Note 20.

8 > 9 > 10 > 20

I'm sceptical that seemingly everything bad seems to be conveniently placed on the chip shortage. That particular event seems to do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to making excuses.
Considering the other phones under the Redmi Note range at the time, particularly the Note 11 and Note 11 Pro 5G which both use Snapdragon chips, there was no reason to have the Mediatek chip in the 11 Pro or for the phone to even exist except to hit some particular price point, I'd assume to sit snugly in-between.

There's nothing wrong with Mediatek chips. I've been using one since 2016.
