Smartphones you can buy for under R10,000 in South Africa

Flagship smartphones offer fantastic features but they also have expensive price tags, often requiring buyers to fork out about R30,000.

While these smartphones offer impressive performance and features for those who can afford them, this is simply not a realistic price to pay for a smartphone for many South Africans.

While these handsets might not be as powerful as their R30,000 counterparts, they offer superior value for money.
You're pushing it a bit with the 30k thing. A Samsung S20 is around R16 - 25k. An iPhone 11 is around 18k.

Why is Huawei in this listing considering no Google services?

And why no mention of an android one phone? You could do so much more than these copy paste articles, but it's mybb, so it's expected that you get a good article maybe once or twice a year.

iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB is currently on special at the iStore for R31999.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra 128GB is R1 less at the Samsung online store.

It's Huawei not Hawaii.

I generally don't buy expensive phones. I have a Huawei P10 lite which is serving me well. The only negative is that the camera is not the best and can take terrible photos in bad light.

Phones are extremely high-risk items, especially in SA. I literally had a Xiaomi Mi A2 forcibly taken from me last year in a robbery.

Fortunately, it was under 3k so not a major blow.

I can't imagine the frustration of losing a phone which costs 15k-20k in a robbery and not having insurance on it.

I suspect that those R30k phones aren't bought once-off, but rather at the more 'affordable' price point of R2.5k per month.

Sadly, a R30k phone is actually the same price point at R10k was a few years ago, mostly due to ZAR depreciation. So we can be thankful that suppliers are bringing out more affordable phones as South Africans get poorer.

"forcibly"?

30 K for a phone?
Keeping up with the Jones' is a real bitch these days.

For R1k over R10k I'd rather go for a Note 10 Lite dual sim or a LG G8x ThinQ dual screen over a A71. Or a A31, at the bottom end, which in my opinion, is basically a A51 with a larger battery and lower price tag, and a equally slow MediaTek chip.

Can't seem to find any stock of the LG G8x ThinQ at Vodacom or MTN. Any idea how I can find it here in sunny SA?

Cellucity and Takealot had stock, but I see they're also sold out now. Pity. There are a few on Bidorbuy.
