Smoking gun in online radio listenership fight

Wow, these nanas come across as a bunch of amateurs. Lazy, stupid, lying amateurs with very little respect for mybroadband and the effects that their ineptitude and lies can result in.

Sink, little ship. Sink. Your captain just shot out your hull...

The value of free speech - imagine if the Protection of Information Bill as originally tabled was enacted, for that matter even the current bill ...

Chances of Darren Scott issuing an apology?
Does he have the Balls to admit his horrendous mistake in the saga ...

"MyBroadband initially asked for a meeting on Thursday, but Grant asked for a postponement and agreed to meet on Friday 29 July with all the requested information to put this issue to bed."

- need to fix the date to 29 June

Thanks - fixed

Now the question has to be asked. Were NetDynamix simply making an honest mistake. I struggle to think that their team can be this monumentally stupid. Or were they intentionally misleading their clients and advertisers, in which case they are fraudsters?

Stupid, or fraud? I'm siding with the latter until proven wrong...

* Flash Media Server log files: NetDynamix could not provide any log files, and could also not provide access to the servers as requested. When pushed for access to the servers, Grant said that he would have to contact his network specialist which is based in Russia for the needed information. When trying to contact him Grant however said that his phone died, and that all the details were on his phone. Diedericks, the independent technical expert, was then promised a session with NetDynamix’s network specialist before Friday night, but this never happened.
* Invoices from their Flash Media Server infrastructure provider: Grant said that he did not have this information at hand, but promised to send it to MyBroadband. To date this has not happened.
* Flash Media Server stats reports from their provider: Grant said that he did not have this information at hand, but promised to send it to MyBroadband. To date this has not happened.
* The reports from NetDynamix Flash Media Server partner: Grant said that he does not have any of these files at hand because his computer with these files crashed. He promised to provide this information, but to date MyBroadband has not received any of these files.
Phone dying, laptop crashing - who the heck do these amateurs think they're kidding? These types of excuses may work with their wives, but not a tech-savvy community.

Reading this, I cannot help thinking that this is not mistakes. These statistics were calculated. But then to see that they actually agreed to see MyBB and allow them this much access, shows they are real amateurs thinking that they wont be exposed. And all this BS of phone dying and crashed laptop. This just leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I am a bit worried that this might mean the end of online radio in SA. If the two biggest stations only attracts 500 listeners... Perhaps this shows that our internet is NOT world class. We need cheaper uncapped internet, as any streaming can only work on an uncapped solution.

Yes it is a worry, but there is no point in inflating listener figures just to keep things going. That is fraud and the next story will be the advertisers pulling out and going after those stations for their money back as the give business based on listener figures.

Sadly, what advertiser is going to pay for adverts on a station that only has 300 listeners at any given time?

They should be paying Shaun Dewberry for all the publicity he has given them. I'll bet their "live" listeners has increased by at least 25% since he published his blog!

Just Wow in the thoroughness of mybb in investigating the matter.
I am sure there are plenty of people involved behind the scenes that assisted in covering all bases making sure there is no loop hole for Netdynamix to use.

NetDynamix CEO Chris Grant is really having to back peddle.
The network specialist phone has died and the Netdynamix flash server crashing. I also can't believe Netdynamix do not even have invoices on hand for the flash server. One thing with internet figures you can't fudge numbers a hard lesson that Chris Grant is going to have to learn.

If this is fraud then it makes for an interesting legal conundrum.

- Advertisers want money back because listener figures were inflated one hundred fold.
- Ballz deny liability because of figures were provided by Netdynamix and weren't exaggerated by Ballz.
- Netdynamix deny liability as they say it was a honest mistake and they don't financially benefit from exaggerating numbers.

If you ask me the party liable for the advertisers money from my non expert view is the radio stations. Why did they go with a stats provider that do not get audited if they use those stats to get money from advertisers. Shows negligence. I also feel Ballz knew much more than they are letting on. THe defensive interview with Mr Dewberry is proof of this. I hope someone saved that before Mr Scott removes it from youtube.

Surely interacting with your listerers you would have a suspicion based on the number of twitter comments of the live show as Ballz say based on stats by far the majority listeners used fixed line internet to listen to it. So I expect a discussion internet station would have many more live internet comments on social media.

What? Come now, this is business, not social welfare. The advertiser accepted the risk. And the radio stations have absolutely no other method to analyse this data, until the DMMA come to the party (which could be the only positive to emerge from this nonsense). If the radio station sold their advertising on the basis of audited listener numbers, well then it is a whole different ball-game altogether.

And stupidity is not an excuse in business either. Because NetDynamix are either collectively incredibly stupid, or they knowingly conned their clients. And of course they benefit from inflated numbers for god's sake. Does Chris Grant think we were born yesterday? You can't fudge my date of birth, Chris. I'd let you flash my server but my IT specialist is away on a secret mission in the Ormanda nebula until next...er...let's say...Tuesday...

But he cannot tell a lie - I see he is a member of the Association of Christian Broadcasters.

Even the quiet, 90 year old protestant Mary-Beth from Tweebuffelsfontein knew those stats were bullschit...

Well then it is a case of fool me twice.

I think this matter is good for internet radio. All these smaller niche internet radio channels with the same number of listeners should feel proud.

I cannot see how Ballz radio can survive with such a big team and I assume quite high overheads. Not to mention the advertisers will be leaving or at least not signing up without audited stats.

To Darren Scott for being such a nasty on youtube the chickens have come to roost.
I have one thing to say to you:Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye

PS. If Ballz do get liquidated I call dibbs on Nicole Flint.

The beauty about internet radio is that it opens the door to cross-platform, multi-faceted advertising. The radio station is just one of the platforms used. However it doesn't bode well for either station, I'll agree with that aspect...
