smtp - mail.mtn.co.za

It no work , need to send out emails , worked correctly the last time at 09H01 am on 06 September 2007.

Got a few messages stuck in my outbox on my multiprofiled Outlook 2007 setup for that smtp.

Resolves to 196.11.240.20

Please fix asap unless there is an open relay on the internet somewhere that relays for the 172.28 subnet as smtp.mtn.co.za for obvious reasons does'nt allow relay through.

looks like this issue may be area specific , apparently changes were made in CT regarding routing and gprs stuff.

telnetting to mail.mtn.co.za 25 yields nothing , no smtp greeting , no ping response.

doing the same to smtp.saix.net 25 gives me the greeting and ping response.

I guess the smtp daemon is down or someone is blocking the 172.28.17 subnet from relaying email through , most annoying.

sent email to 'corporatetechnicalsu@mtn.co.za' as per instruction from 1555 , lets hope it gets resolved today still.

For what its worth I am using the apn of "internet"

Changed it to "myMTN" and outbound mail seems to be working again , anyone change apn parameters and why ?

whats the difference between the 2 ?

telnetting to mail.mtn.co.za 25 on "internet" apn does'nt work

telnetting to mail.mtn.co.za 25 on "myMTN" apn works

did this using Ginggs s/w and it works , changed it in the MTN dashboard software and it works as well.

Anyone else using the "internet" apn to browse and send email having this issue.
