My options are:

Run

or Run like hell.

Apparently my company has the obligation to notify the bank if I give my notice. Once this happens the bank flight blocks me.

If I leave (on my vacation time) and just don't come back. I am flagged as an abscondant and will get jail time if I ever return (even on a transit flight)

At this point I'm willing to take that risk. I don't want to abandon my loan here so might service it from SA (at a price of the exchange rate of course, but at much lower interest rates)

But if I do the illegal run I might as well just leave the debt.

I don't want to but if you corner an animal, nevermind how dosile it may seem, it will attack for survival

They will find you in SA and sue you for the moolah. Rather pay.

Why don't you go talk to the bank? Maybe they have a way out for you.

Oh if I do it the legal way (by giving my notice to the company and getting my visa cancelled properly etc) I would have to produce a NOC certificate from the bank at immigration before they'll let me leave

You didn't say what your circumstances are, but I am assuming you have a contract with your employer which you want to terminate early but they won't let you?

If this is the case, just perform so poorly that they fire you :D

As soon as you do that they flight block you. They also try to cash the security cheque that was written by them (which would bounce) and by that they then open a criminal case against you. They're paranoid...very paranoid

Have you spoken to anyone at the bank about paying back the loan from SA?

Maybe sell your car house etcetc and cover a nice lump-sum and then pay back monthly from SA?

My circumstances are pretty much straight forward.

Not secure in my work. Have family issues. Alone in Dubai. So ****it. Why bother. But they do make it impossible for you to return.

If you feel alone, join an expat club or something. The worst feeling is that of having no-one to share your problems with.

Do it the right way.
It will only come to haunt you in the future. Bite you in the b@lls....

It's hard but do it the right way.
How do they deal with people that do things like that?
It's an Muslim country they like chopping things off....

No.

The 'right way' you stay there, continue with your job and pay off your debt. We all do that - just in a different country.

how long would it take you to pay of the total debt ? isnt it worth it to just stick there for another few months to come clean and than leave ? i can imagine you being really really alone there, and all those people there are not that fluent in english and they all stay in their houses and offices because of the heat.

isnt there a way, that your family could visit you for a few weeks ?
