So I drove into a roadblock.

So the guy (friendly, but slightly overweight, who doesn't have a good concept of personal space) took my license and after 5 minutes brought me a list with 10 item on it. lucky 4 of those where duplicates because they check your license and car.

Did you try your luck and tell him that he is at risk of Covid? :p

Also, if I understand from post history, are you not the pro-speeding guy?

"Speeding" should not be a crime.

A sneeze and cough may have been a good tactic?

Roadblocks seems to be every day and all hours around where I live. I was hassled for 30 minutes and pulled into a police van under the Rivonia bridge on Sunday night. I hadn't had a drop but was threatened with blood tests and had what I was told were breathalysers waved in my face.

I'd read (maybe on here), that the budget for manning speed cameras had switched from Metro to council (or vice versa), hence they've all disappeared and DUI convictions seem to be the order of the day. Last night I was out on the bike and joined a queue, again on Rivonia Road but a different place, where every driver in the queue was being tested and some searched.

I doubt it. There's no money to be made from prosecuting drunk drivers. In fact, I would guess the cost of prosecuting a drunk driver must run into the tens of thousands of rands, if not more, especially if the accused lawyers up and challenges the arrest and charge.

Drunk drivers pay the best bribes.

Fair comment. So just an early Christmas bonus drive then.

Meh. Its all like 130 something in a 120 zone. Perfectly safe and responsible.

How exactly did you allow yourself to be pulled into a police van before even a breathalyzer test was performed?

I was pulled aside heading to Grahamstown yesterday. The guy did a quick vehicle inspection (tyres and tags) and sent me on my way after suggesting I keep an eye on the license disk which expires in January. Pleasant guy.

There's a bride-seekers hot-spot near me, right off the N1. They caught me once when I didn't have my wallet & license with me, cos I jumped in the car to go rescue a friend without transport half an hour before the 21h00 curfew.

The skelm bitch wanted R1000 but the friend had R200 in cash with him, and she still had the gall to say 'eish this is so little I can't even buy lunch with this tomorrow'.

I've encountered them twice after that, but knowing the game I stop a bit further down the road (there's no shoulder just a 30cm drop, so I creep along pretending to find a spot to pull off) and then I watch the fat bitch wobble towards me, but when she gets close I speed off with a cackle and flash her the bird.

Go extort someone else, cow, I know you're not there for law enforcement. In fact I still want to hide in the bushes with my pellet gun, you mos know the mozzies are back..

Lol. This might get you in some serious trouble.

Just let them write the fine. It is less and you most likely wont even have to pay it. I play dumb if they try and solicit a bribe.

I was heading to Hogsback and just outside of Alice a traffic thing pulled me over .

He stuck his head through the window. Too bad it was manual wind up windows as accidently pressing a button was very tempting.

He said I was driving 80 in a 60 zone and asked me

"... what can you do for me?"

I asked him "stupidly", what do you mean what can I do for you?

He said he is going to give me fine for driving over the speed limit, but what can I do for him?

So I asked him, what is it you thought I would do for you? Start writing that fine.

He then said, okay, what you can do for me next time is drive slower. I am giving you the warning and not the fine. Now you may go nicely.

Nicely, indeed.
