Well done Nicci.

I stopped 7 years ago and haven't regretted it a single day.

Get hold of the book "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr - he helps you sort out the mental side of the craving.

The nicotine (physical craving) apparently works itself out of your system in a couple of weeks but the mental hook stays in there a while longer :D

Get lots of snacks and drinks and keep your hands and mouth busy (yeah I know that sounds odd).

Seriously, stock up on snacks and drinks and stuff your face.

I will stock up on some jelly sweets and chips, and some lollipops lol!

Bake, bake and bake some more....

You guys are gonna make Nicci fat :p :D Three months from now Ncci is gonna start another thread titled "How do I lose 20kg's?"

Nicci don't substitute snacking/food for smoking... rather nibble on a carrot and sip water :D

Lol Ponder, don't worry, I won't let myself pick up weight :) I will get healthy snacks don't worry! I barely eat anyways, and never pig out on food and stuff, my tummy to small to eat big meals lol! But yes, I will watch what I eat :D

Ok thank you!!! Yes, at work there are only 2 other people who smoke, so that is easy. I live at home so nobody to distract me here. I just find once I get bored, or restless I start craving it. When I smell it it puts me off completely. I don't really drink or go out, so that is at least a good thing. Just after I ate, I die for a smoke :( Or when I wake up in the morning with my coffee - I miss that, but then I just go outside and play with the dogs and it helps lol!

Oh good, glad you don't live at work :)

Congrats though, kicking any addiction is tough and smoking especially because it's so easy to relapse.

Thank you very much for all the well wishes and congrats :) I will keep you posted about my progress :D

Right now, I would literally kill someone for a smoke lol!! I normally never smoked inside my house, so this time of the night I would pour a glass of milk or something and go stand outside having a smoke. I will make some tea now and enjoy that and take dogs out lol!

Congratz. Stopped 10 years ago.
The most amazing for me is that how much my sense of smell improved within a week after I stopped smoking.

Hmm woke up this morning dying for a smoke :( Had the packet in my hand lol! But then thought of how much it stinks, the damage I am doing to my lungs, and also all these days that I have quit has been for nothing. I opened the bin, threw the packet of smokes away, and made a coffee. I hope this craving / habit goes away fast, as I am finding that I am spending a lot of money. I go to the shops when I am bored and then spend money for things I don't really need lol!

Nicely done!

If you can make a month without smoking then you have made it. Good luck!

A large part of the early days is breaking the old habits and routines. Keep going and remember the person you see having a smoke wishes he was you

I'm now 2 years and 6 days stopped after 34 years smoking.

100% been smoke free for 17years now, learning new habits and breaking the old one's was what helped me through it.Drinking without smoking was the hardest, for about 6 months I had to stay clear of pubs.
