Hello,

I wanted to make a thread because I am damn proud of myself! I am 8 days smoke free now!!! I got pneumonia and just could not smoke - it hurt to much. I am still craving every now and again, especially in the mornings and evenings, but all in all I feel much better! I can smell much better now.

I went to the shop to buy some colddrink, and someone was standing outside having a smoke, eeeeuw the smell was horrible :( Made me want to throw up lol!! So weird!!!!

Anyways, I just wanted to share my good news, as I am quite chuffed that I could give up smoking, I used to smoke so much lol!!!
Congratulations on stopping, luckily I never smoked so didn't have to go through the quitting process.

:) I am here lol! I just ate some left over xmas food (lol) and made some coffee. Now going to shower and go to the shops, then come back and groom the dogs. If I just lie here facebooking and stuff I want to smoke, so need to actively keep busy. Gosh, now that I am feeling a bit better it is really getting difficult :( When I was sick it was easy to stop cos I knew it would hurt when I smoke... I am still sick but the fever and stuff has gone and not feeling so tired whole time.

Enough already, go and read that book!

Well done Nicci, I really envy you. Wish I could stop just like that too. Lol, I've tried everything under the sun but am like Ria, I actually enjoy my smoke but wish I never started. Good luck and you CAN do this if you have come so far already. :)

Might not be a bad idea to lay back on coffee consumption for a while too. Coffee and smoking is usually something smokers do together and I found that cutting back on coffee made my transition easier. It's was like coffee was an enabler.

Strange, never been an issue for me.

Hello everyone :) Day 10 smoke free. This morning was hard, I went to the mall, and went to my normal coffee shop where I have breakfast before my movie (maid was here so that is my routine every second Saturday) and they have a smoking area where I used to sit. So this morning I went to the non smoking side and ate breakfast. All was well until I finished. I tapped with my fingers on the table, my feet were tapping, and I was licking my lips lol! I smelt someone walk past who had just smoked, and man I wanted to go in there and beg someone for a smoke. BUT, I didn't :)

I went to watch Ronin 47 (Superb movie btw) and ordered a popcorn and astros and coke. After the movie I craved a bit again, but went to woolies and bought a scarf (lol) and came home. Now the craving is gone, but I know it will come back tonight. I will stay strong. I really WANT to quit, it will save me money, and it will motivate me to take up my jogging again and motivate me to get healthier in general.

Well done, hang in there (I promise it gets better / easier)

Ps. Don't put off the jogging; why not try a few sessions before going back to work (don't kill yourself though). Also try swimming as a way to work off pent-up energy / frustrations.

This is how it's going to go for a few weeks. But it does get easier.

Then suddenly a few months have passed and it's gone.

Hang in there.

Keep busy ...

Ok thank you!!! Yes, at work there are only 2 other people who smoke, so that is easy. I live at home so nobody to distract me here. I just find once I get bored, or restless I start craving it. When I smell it it puts me off completely. I don't really drink or go out, so that is at least a good thing. Just after I ate, I die for a smoke :( Or when I wake up in the morning with my coffee - I miss that, but then I just go outside and play with the dogs and it helps lol!

If you have a husband or boyfriend just yell at them

Hello :) SO!!! Today is day 12!! Smoke free :D Again I am battling really hard, I wan't to just start smoking again. I found myself whilst standing by the door earlier by the garden (where I normally used to smoke) that my hand automatically went to the table - where the smokes normally lied lol!! I bit the bullet, took the dogs to the park today, went to the makro and bought bags of sweets, like funny faces / apricots etc to help eat something when I want to smoke. When I was sick it was so easy not to smoke cos it was sore, but now that I am better damn, it's difficult :( I am so scared I am going to give in and start again. I almost did a few times. But, I am going to try my best as I really want to stop!

Almost 2 weeks, well done, don't forget to celebrate each milestone.

Try to either avoid or move away from any situations that make it more difficult.

I know! It's just being all alone at home and bored makes me want to smoke, and if I hit the shops I spend money lol! But tomorrow I am going to the beach, Llandudno with the dogs or perhaps Fishhoek, somewhere where it is nice and safe for the dogs and where I can catch a tan lol!

Sounds perfect... I love shopping but tend to very picky about it, so fortunately my money and me are not easily parted.

Lol I just buy stuff! Bought 3 kinds of razors / clippers at Dischem (R2400 worth) and took two back, the one that I bought was doing the job of both of the other two lol! I am just going to steer clear from the shops, I just buy stuff I like without thinking and I have another dog coming in Jan from overseas (Yes, i bought that as well during my stop smoking phase LOL) so need to watch now what I spend. I have now spent all of my savings on this one dog, so now I have to start from scratch. BUT, this dog is one of the BEST bred males in the world. Parents are world winners 2013!!! Very lucky to get my hands on him!!
