So Eskom plunged us into load shedding to do maintenance in 2020 for what?

2021 hasn't seen the EAP at 70% at all and in face the ULP hasn't been under 20% this entire year, what a freaking joke.

Eskom are A+++ grade liars.
You should know this by now. They did no maintenance, they did what my dad calls "spoeg en plak" the same trick as flinging feces on a wall and hoping some of it sticks.

We are being punished, all this loadshedding, well most of it at best, is just punitive, and for political reasons.

Lucrative diesel deals to burn diesel fuel in back up generators.

Furthermore, it was reported that Eskom’s chairperson, Jabu Mabuza, disclosed that the utility had approached PetroSA with an emergency request for diesel and spent an amount of R4.5 billion in just six months for diesel, far exceeding their current financial year budget for diesel which is R666 million.

40 year old power plants. Maintenance can only do so much when the base machine is that old. Do you imagine "maintenance" on a worn out 40 year old car would suddenly make it reliable?

We need new plants. And not ones built like Medupi. Proper ones.

It'll take another 20 years for new plants, I mean the two coal plants that were supposed to be done 7 years ago already.

Renewable plants go up faster as do small scale ones. With the laws changing around private generation a lot of mines, factories, etc are gonna go off grid hopefully saving the remaining power for the rest of us.

Ironically it's the old plants that are not breaking.

They do, but we're talking in SA terms if a coal plant normally takes 7 to 10 years to finish and we're going on 15 years now, could you imagine how long it will take a renewable?

There would be a court interdict banning Eskom from building anything else in future. /s

The bigger joke is how this was predicted when they shunted the experienced whites out in the name of transformation, people were commenting 'just watch' on this very forum.
But the real assholes in this picture are the politicians who pander to the crowds and don't do their jobs like when Mbeki & them refused to listen to Eskom.
Seriously, what did they think was going to happen when capacity runs out and they decided not to build more?
We should hold that lot personally & financially accountable, but then TIA and the ones that causes the most k@k & are the most corrupt are the ones that gets medical parole.
