I know what port 22 is, my question is Defuq does the chromcast need ssh for.

Oh you were so confused by the application screen earlier I thought you didn't know.

Well it runs *nix so probably uses it in some way to update or something.

Ipconfig from cmd will give you the default gateway which would be the IP of the modem/router 100% of the time
Assuming the person that set up this router/firewall isn't tech savvy and decidedly so set up a honeypot.

A man received the following text from his neighbor:

I am so sorry Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess. I have been tapping your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, more than you. I'm not getting any at home, but that's no excuse. I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apology with my promise that it won't happen again.

The man, anguished and betrayed, went into his bedroom, grabbed his gun, and without a word, shot his wife and killed her.

A few moments later, a second text came in:

Damn autocorrect. I meant "wifi", not "wife".

You could do this with one of your guest network thereby isolating access - disable access to local network :)

I need to learn about networking and protocols clearly! I know nothing of what has been mentioned here, but learnt alot already. How do you see what these people are browsing/watching?

You setup a proxy.

But that's boring.

Rather just suck all their real information through a man in the middle attack. That's the really juicy stuff.

True. Was just an example though. It's handy to see what is on your network and what ports are open.

I was at a restaurant once where the wifi wasn't working (no internet access), so scanned the network and figured out they have two routers, the one with DHCP didn't have internet access but the other did, so change gateway and all the 10 Mbps was mine (since no one else could use it). :)

Another time I found you could telnet to the router and log in with default passwords even though the web login password had been changed. You could pretty much change anything there.
