I've tested with various remotes on my Golf 6 and none of them have been able to jam it

I've tried 2 types of gate remotes, and I have not been able to jam the remote signal on my BMW. The car locks every time.

Which insurance company are you with?

I'm with PSGKonsult, underwritten by Hollard for home and car. Claimed under "non-specified items". As for work PC, the work insurance company requested proof that I have permission to take notebook out of office, which is a company procedure.

Interesting.

Doesn't seem far-fetched to me that insurance companies would deny to payout. Depends on the company, I suppose.

I find insurance companies inconsistent with respect to claims procedures based on what I read on Hellopeter. I'm sure some would reject the claim.

I have checked this on hellopeter and it seems most companies will reject a claim arising from car jamming e.g. Discovery Insure, MiWay, Auto And General, MTN, Outsurance all give standard responses

We are aware that criminals are using jamming devices to override remote signals at the time of activation. It however remains the obligation of the driver to physically check that thier vehicle doors are locked before leaving the vehicle unattended.

As discussed, we can confirm that your claim was rejected due to the fact that there was no visible signs of forced entry into your vehicle. In terms of your policy schedule, such an instance is not covered.

However, I read instances of Mutual & Federal, Virgin Insurance and Budget Insurance who settled car jamming claim. I know mine was done with no issues through PSKKonsult.

Did you use a new tech remote or the old one with the 16 "switches"

Have tried both and different brands

Those switches are called DIP switches and they bring back fond memories of over clocking back in the day and nightmares of setting IRQs on old ISA cards

Do the following

I at many times experienced this, where my vehicle didn't want to lock at certain shopping malls... I am no fan of locking the car with just the key, and also thought it was the batteries, but what didn't make sense was it works well in other areas... so i did the Following. Put the remote under the Arch of the front left wheel, or right. no way they can jam it then.

the signal should be strong enough in my opinion to make direct contact with the system. Works every-time for me.

Stay awake and take notice of people...when you think you didn't lock go Check!!!

ma
I was at the JHB Park station, as I leave the car I try to lock the car and nothing happens. I listen for the clicking sound when the door locks but this time nothing happens. I had walked a couple meters off, so I turn around and walk on over next to the car and try again and nothing still. Again, no dice.

So I stick the key in the driver's side and then activate the alarm with the remote. Obviously the **** realised I had noticed he was blocking me. Later on, I unlock and lock the car from a couple of meters just to be sure it wasn't batteries or something and find the car locks and unlocks just fine. ****ing idiot was likely lying down in one of the surrounding cars as I couldn't see **** anyone in any nearby car.

I have been sceptical about the veracity of this MO, but I know better now given first hand experience.

Every trip to the mall results in me running back after 100m to check my car's locked.

I lock the car manually and pull the handle and I'm happy.

I recall a post from another forum, guy was blocked at a garage. Locked it manually, went inside shop, when he came out they had broken his lock and stolen the valuables. So don't just ignore it.

A sure way of checking (can be done on most cars) is leave the Drivers window slightly open, double press the remote window should
close car is now locked. Checking on indicators does not always ensure car is locked as one could press the wrong button on the remote.

fortunately if I have to lock my car with a key, it auto turns on the alarm. Turning it off requires the remote or override(using remote manually)

Or just listen to the click the door locks make?

I'm extremely vigilant when it comes to this and double check before moving away. I dropped my guard last night for whatever reason... And I think I was taken as well :(

I had two laptops, iPad, bike helmet and biker jacket, large suitcase with Ghd, clothing, photos etc in my boot.

I got home, opened the boot and they took everything barring helmet and jacket
