That would be fraud.
My insurance paid out and work insurance paid for the notebook.
Which insurance company are you with?

Isnip...
I usually take a few steps and press again...
I've tested with various remotes on my Golf 6 and none of them have been able to jam it

I'm with PSGKonsult, underwritten by Hollard for home and car. Claimed under "non-specified items". As for work PC, the work insurance company requested proof that I have permission to take notebook out of office, which is a company procedure.
Interesting.
Doesn't seem far-fetched to me that insurance companies would deny to payout. Depends on the company, I suppose.

Yes it is pretty open to fraudulent claiming.

We are aware that criminals are using jamming devices to override remote signals at the time of activation. It however remains the obligation of the driver to physically check that thier vehicle doors are locked before leaving the vehicle unattended.
As discussed, we can confirm that your claim was rejected due to the fact that there was no visible signs of forced entry into your vehicle. In terms of your policy schedule, such an instance is not covered.
Did you use a new tech remote or the old one with the 16 "switches"
I have checked this on hellopeter and it seems most companies will reject a claim arising from car jamming e.g. Discovery Insure, MiWay, Auto And General, MTN, Outsurance all give standard responses
However, I read instances of Mutual & Federal, Virgin Insurance and Budget Insurance who settled car jamming claim. I know mine was done with no issues through PSKKonsult.
I was at the JHB Park station, as I leave the car I try to lock the car and nothing happens. I listen for the clicking sound when the door locks but this time nothing happens. I had walked a couple meters off, so I turn around and walk on over next to the car and try again and nothing still. Again, no dice.
So I stick the key in the driver's side and then activate the alarm with the remote. Obviously the **** realised I had noticed he was blocking me. Later on, I unlock and lock the car from a couple of meters just to be sure it wasn't batteries or something and find the car locks and unlocks just fine. ****ing idiot was likely lying down in one of the surrounding cars as I couldn't see **** anyone in any nearby car.
I have been sceptical about the veracity of this MO, but I know better now given first hand experience.
Stay awake and take notice of people...when you think you didn't lock go Check!!!
Every trip to the mall results in me running back after 100m to check my car's locked.
A sure way of checking (can be done on most cars) is leave the Drivers window slightly open, double press the remote window should
close car is now locked. Checking on indicators does not always ensure car is locked as one could press the wrong button on the remote.
I'm extremely vigilant when it comes to this and double check before moving away. I dropped my guard last night for whatever reason... And I think I was taken as well
I had two laptops, iPad, bike helmet and biker jacket, large suitcase with Ghd, clothing, photos etc in my boot.
I got home, opened the boot and they took everything barring helmet and jacket
