If you dish up my braaivleis I will stick a fork in your eye. **** you, I paid for what I wanted.... Unless you are retarded, you should be able to identify your braaivleis so there is no excuse for not taking your food.

Some people couldn't careless about That. They see, they take and they eat.

Then they will receive a fork through the hand/eye/ear.

Also who allows other people to braai their meat?

Thus how it works. Especially if it's lazy people who want to sit and chill all night. Bring meat. Put container on kitchen counter and go chill. Meat magically gets braaied while chilling. Usually by one guy as well. This meat ends up in one braaibak.

This is what a bring and braai means to me. If you're not getting drunk enough to not care about the meat, you're probably doing it wrong.

I see the word drunk has been thrown in here many many times.

Perhaps you are going to the wrong type of braai to expect your meat to be sacred?

Seems to me the braais mentioned here are all excuses to drink.

I guess your beers also get stolen at said braais?

Apparently I've been hosting braais wrong my whole life. I always buy the meat for my guests. They bring their own booze and we assign the side dishes amongst all of us. The same applies when they invite me to their braais, I just bring my (and the SU's) booze and the SU takes along some rolls or snacks or potatoes or whatever she was assigned to bring, but never meat.

...you know the food is gonna be schite and I mean really kuk. Some people really can't cook and I'd really prefer to eat my slops.

I make up an excuse that I had really big & late lunch or something like that & I'll have a nibble of desert.

With braais every bodies meat gets chucked on the grid, some people just buy the cheapest toughest crap while others buy like prime chops or rump but when it comes time for dishing up they don't take their own crap but the good stuff and you end up chewing on sinew. fsck this makes me mall, these days I just buy some boerie to go on rolls.

I probably sound like a c**t, what's your opinion?

Everyone friend knows I only like certain food (fussy) so they let me bring my own or get me a pizza or something :D.

Having two friends over tomorrow for a afternoon braai. They asked what they must bring and I just told them to bring whatever booze they prefer. I will supply the steaks, potato salad and braaibroodtjies.

Are you white? From asking my black colleagues, a bring-en-braai is so a white thing and they think it strange. They just take drinks, host provide the non noms.

Braai your own stuff and dish your own stuff.

Problem solved.

I put them in a cooler box and keep them next to me under the pretense of not wanting to get up for a new one every few minutes. You can bet your ass I am keeping an eagle eye on them.

On the flip side, there's always that one drunk showoff nai who wants to show everybody he knows how to braai.

When I'm the host I prefer making potjiekos and just tell everyone to only bring booze

Awesome, so we're both doing it wrong then :p.

Interesting point, perhaps it is a culture thing. Although in my varsity days braais were always bring your own everything :D.

I think its a Cape Town thing as well (regardless of race). Where I'm from (PE) you get invited to a braai, all you need to take is some liquor and a sleeping bag :p

Do you have milk and cookies at your braais? With all due respect, if you were to invite me to a braai with that sort of mentality, I'll conjour up an excuse not to go.
