Morning All
Like many, I'm trying to figure out solar, or at least a battery backup solution in these frustrating times. In my searching I'm finding it's the Wild West out there in terms of suppliers. So many dodgy-looking websites, no trustable reviews. I was wondering if anyone had any experience they could add to some of these websites below. Perhaps we can help weed-out the scams, and market the hard-working, legit guys!

These guys are all listing solar panels, inverters, lipo batteries, etc

You can add another to the list:
They use the exact contact details as:
www.lifepo4solar.co.za

Thanks for sharing your list. Just don't understand why most of them are still up, sad really.

Spoke to a solar provider in Midsteam last week. 5 years ago there was 4 solar company's registered in the area (all 10+ years in the industry) and currently there is aver 250. There is so many fly night companies.

Always take care as all installers require a 50 - 80% deposit,

You really have 2 options:

1. Buy directly from a wholesaler and get a certified electrician to install (Voltex / Geewiz)
2. Have at least 3 references before using the company and 1 needs to be a personal reference where you can actually see the product has been installed.

Had similar concerns and decided to order the components myself and have someone install.

The risk of handing over 100k as a deposit to a non registered company (vat and CIPC) with dodgy address helped me decide.

Stick to reputable suppliers Voltex & Geewiz. Voltex has stock around the country you just need to organise your own courier.

Ok. I rolled the dice on getpower.co.za. They were legit, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. My battery arrived in 2 or 3 days. EFT payment.

I'm also running into similar issues trying to figure out who's legit and who's not, but thanks to mybb there's a ton of info to help one get started.

I'm contemplating importing some of the items myself since local suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand, and installers are booked for weeks in advance

www.herholdts.co.za is also an official supplier of Sunsynk equipment among others.

www.liteglo.co.za are also legit (I got my batteries from them).

Good Day to all.

If ever you need a legit company, with having a proper website, not a dodgy-looking website (LOL)
Please feel free to contact me and feel free to look at our website, as well as all the youtube videos on any of our products.
Our Brand is the Felicity Solar Brand, which is a legit company been going for many years, but only been in South Africa for about a year, to make things easier for customers who imported Directly.
We supply Batteries and Inverters and other products, but unfortunately, have not imported our solar panels, as their are enough panel suppliers in South Africa at this given time.

So is it a good idea to go to a supplier and buy the critical hardware, ie Inverter, batteries and panels and the get quotes from installers.
There is no way I am giving a company 100K as deposit.
