So what do you think those 20,000MW of coal is doing at 3am?... Baseload isn't big or clever you are just used to it.
Just because you go to sleep at night doesn’t mean that the world shuts down.
The graph is based on actual real life actual demand data from this January. Night time lows of about 20,000MW demand and daytime peaks of up to 27,000MW demand.
This means that if you can like to remove one theoretical 600MW power generation unit you will be short on the generation side and will have to spin up OCGTs or load shed.
Maybe you should revisit your understanding of baseload….it’s in the name. The base load on power stations by the country. It’s always there.
