Solar Geyser - what they dont tell you

I've never liked solar geysers anyways.

When I was in the Philippines, there was this little water heater device installed next to the shower (they don't use geysers or hot water in general). I haven't seen something like it in South Africa. Water goes in, heats instantly, and goes out to the shower head warm enough for a foreigner to enjoy the hot water.

I want something like that.
I have one in the old servants quarters that I'll probably sell off soon

Yeah, similar. Was hoping they would use less kW.
It's less electricity eventually, because u dont heat 100/150 liters at once. U just heat what u need...
I used to just fill one 30l bucket with hot water and take a bath using a mug.
Reason is u have to control the water temperature by controlling the water flow, slow water =hot temp and vice versa.

Sorry old post , but i saw Filipino and also Water Heater and i need help.

Prices of those have come down a lot.
I have a problem calling from abroad, i asked my mom to contact an installer in cape town and they came with a 9950 quotation to install the water heater, thats just ****ing retarded.
Can somebody help me here maybe please
I need help to have the water heater installed - connected to the existing water pipe and then either just plug it in to a plug point (as they said in the e-mail also, or have it connected to one of the circuits of the house)

Yeah, but you need a beefy inverter to power it.

I grew up with electric instant water heaters and they are not what you want to use with a solar PV setup.
Firstly they were about 11kW and with solar PV it would be better to heat water slowly and store it in a geyser instead.
Secondly how do you heat water during the night or early morning when the sun isn't shining? Pull 11kW from your solar batteries?! :)

Note that the con of flat plates is that they can burst in freezing temps. A Geyserwise pumps warm water through on cold nights to prevent this.

Only directly coupled systems have that issue. I have an indirect system which uses glycol in the flat plate collectors which does not freeze.
