Solar installers and suppliers

When I did my installation in 2020 the City sent around the meter crew just after my application went in. I guess they have more work now and you have to request the meter replacement by yourself. It is just a prepaid meter where the keyboard for entering the code is on your property but the part that reads the consumption is in the box out on the street.
I already have a prepaid meter, is this different to the normal prepaid we have in our houses ?

Yes they replace the old meter. I think they want the reader part of the meter away from the property to prevent any by-passing.

Is this for every SSEG application or for only people who want to feed in ? My installer said they submitted an application but I have not received any update.

For every SSEG application. Unless you have a new pre-paid meter already.

Maybe he hasnt applied yet ? Did u get an email ?

I am in cape town and may be things are different for u if u not in cape town. the installer asked me to add him as a proxy on my services on the coct website. . Now I can track the application status.
So far I can only see permission to install.

Yes that’s how it is for CPT. Been waiting for over a month now for the permission to use

I checked and they said they did a paper based application. It is still odd that they didn’t have me sign anything neither did I receive any notification. I am also in Cape Town.

You should have signed the agreement with the CoCT. If not, they can't have done the application.

Did they ever marry up the scenario where you not buying units and using it or can I assume you “did not” use it?
I buy units every month. Save it for winter when I use more. I honestly don't think they can or want to even try to find out.

In a month and a half I have generated 750kwh…how much I would over 13 months for the wait 🤦🏻‍♂️

Once approved I was gonna turn the mains off especially in summer

any other recent applications for SSEG for CPT and it taking 13 months?

What do you guys think of this quote?

It's a lot more than what I was expected, and it seems like it's because of that huge inverter. I consume between 600 (summer) & 900 units (winter) - solar geyser.

Very confusing quote such a large inverter with just 10kWh storage and 16 panels? It seems like a prank. Coupled with your relatively low energy consumption given that you have a solar geyser so unlikely the geyser will stress your system I will just fire the contractor on the basis of piss taking. If you have money to spare batteries are a better investment.

That usage I would go for 8kW inverter, same amount of solar and 30kWh battery.
