Solar installers and suppliers

When my installer did their annual inspection a few months ago, they checked the wattage of each panel individually and recorded it. I remember it was on the final checklist that I signed.

Could anyone give me a few recommendations for suppliers and installers in the Gauteng area? We're moving in the next few weeks. Bonus points if any are closer to the Midrand area.

Got the above quote. Any thoughts on it?

Moving in a few weeks to a new place. It's just my wife and I for now, plans to add a halfling are in the works.

1x 200L geyser with a 3Kw element. Gas stove, electric oven. No pool.
There is some underfloor heating, but I have no idea how much these draw.
Plans to add a few aircons within a year or so.

The idea is to have a system in place where I don't have to be too concerned about over drawing, tripping inverters etc, and to be able to use power liberally.

That has got to be the best quote I've ever seen in my life before!

Now you guys are making me nervous. The quotes from Cudub. A few people on this thread went with them.

Yep, roughly a fifth of my very similar system. I do have a bit more PV but that's not where the money is.
Can I put more PV? I am a total noob on this stuff. As I said, I want a system where I don't have to be worried about anything too much.

Iro the PV, i was told that there's a max per string, and since there's 2 inverters, I could put 8 of those 550W panels per string.

Rather change the 2x 5kw inverter to a single 8kw/12kw inverter. The 5kw inverter will clip the current of the PV to 13A.

Busy reading through the thread and just saw something about this.
Or just get a Sunsynk 1p 10kw for +-R3k more than the two 5kw units.
Thanks, will get some quotes to do this. Although i'm thinking for our max power draw at 1 time, the 8kw should also be more than fine.

I was advised to go the 2x5kw route for redundancy sake, but if this affects how much power can be pulled from the panels, I'll reconsider.

It doesn’t. I would take the cheaper fanless redundant design.

Finally a decent quote on this thread :) looks good.. I can't personally vouch for him, but have heard good things.
I get the redundancy and fan-less pros on the 2x5kw, but if you're going to install far away in your garage then the fan sound doesn't really bother.
The fans keep things cooler, and you get the higher current on PV on the 10kw. I'm no expert but also suspect the parts are 'tougher' in the 10kw, no? Looks like it based on the 12kw, but toned down like a 318i, heh.

The PV current matters, coz most 550W are technically not ideal for the 5kw (though will work just fine in most cases with minor clipping).

EDIT: been a while since I browsed pricing, but ya the main components here come to R105k max, so quote is not crazy, just typical for a high-end installer, not a rip-off.
