Savage on the forums was selling 100 panels locally for slightly above what I could import them for (was within about 20% of my landed price with taxes). Don't know if they still have but you can ask -

Pricing was similar to the gwstore link you posted.
Cost pricing on those is around 2k with vat (for the 300w panels), so its not a bad deal.

FYI

I bought 10 of these Renosolar 295W panels directly from the company that has them 2 week ago - Equifeeds in Fisantekraal (ask for Steven) . Paid 17700 cash.

Cheers

Shot. Mine are stacked in the garage, awaiting an inverter I ordered from Germany. Need to apply my mind to flat roof (ballasted) mounting - my flat roof space is a weird shape, and it needs to be cheap!

Unistrut is fairly cheap if you have corrugated roofing, and are mounting directly.
Comes in 6M lengths for about R400 a pop (need 2 sets per 6 panels). R20 or so for clip panel mounting on top of that (4 per panel)

If you're flat though, you'll need to work out what angle is optimal for your location. Cape Town optimal is roughly 25-35 degree's facing due North. I have another post on the forum somewhere where I work out the calculations and give links to where to work it out.

Please let me know how it works out, I must have just missed him as I phoned after you and couldn't reach him - don't want to flood him with calls if he has no more panels so will wait to see what he says to you first!

He didn't call back, so will call again on Tuesday. Or possibly tomorrow if they're open.

Nice thread so far. Isheed_cn, did you manage to perhaps get hold of Steve. Busy building and seriously considering putting in a small solar system to get me through the black outs atleast.

Also based in Cape Town and import from China on a regular basis (partial container at the moment). Would be interested in sharing some of those costs and perhaps buying direct.

Anybody on the thread installed some micro inverters for their solar PV's yet?

Called 3 times, left my number, hasn't gotten back to me.
I leave tomorrow for China (Shanghai) , so may as well bring in more from that side.

@Legosa - If you have experience shipping from China perhaps you could give some estimate figures on how much the shipping would cost. I'd definitely be keen if the price works out good.
