Hi,

As the title says, got sold a lemon.

Had it 5 months. It’s had to have major repairs in that period, now in 6th and last month of CPA protection. And while the dealer has fixed problems (not minor) . I don’t think the dealer has been honest in selling me this car.

While I’m not going to list the tale, I would like to know what constitutes a FSH?

In dealers eyes, a FSH is just the stamps in the log book (which it has but I was told suspect things about last stamp). And if they are there, at right intervals, then it has a FSH.

In my eyes, a FSH is the stamps in the logbook, plus paperwork associated with work carried out on the car (parts and labor invoices, service sheets with comments potentially. )

Also the dealership hasn’t produced the roadworthy certificate, although the car did pass and is licensed on the road, it would be nice to have so that I can start a paper trail, so when I have to sell it now I can at least be a little more honest than the dealership was.

I am suspicious of how the car got through roadworthy considering the faults I have subsequently discovered.

Any thoughts would be great.

(It’s a 2012 model)

Thanks.

You reckon a legit dealership (countrywide with a name for luxury cars and a long history) would do that? Could they even do that?

The whole experience has been very icky and I’m getting stuck with a cloudy car

Your idea of FSH is not the general idea people have of a FSH. A FSH as you want will require you to buy a car privately from a person who keep such records.

You weren't sold a lemon, you were sold someone elses problem. A lemon is generally a new car that has issues from the get go. An 8 year old car with issues is just a, well used car that someone got rid of.

Yip. Now it’s my problem. awesome. While not new, it’s had the problems from get go.

I went to the dealership because
I thought I would avoid all of this. Lesson learnt.

Scary thing is even a dealership isn't always going to be honest.

What sort of issues were/are going wrong?
First night home i discovered a good amount of dripping oil in my driveway.
So first week it went back for 12k repair to fix oil leak.

Received car back. Battery died, leaving me stranded in middle of no where. (this would be more minor)

Then a few weeks later, got an engine light and a governed engine with no power. Just received car back from that, after being in a workshop for 2 weeks on that fix. Invoice showing about 12k again but I don’t think it’s the whole truth again.

I also changed a front headlight (again minor but adds to it all), and the technician who changed it told me that the fitting had probably been changed at some point. (I have no record of this)

I also spoke to the mechanic who last serviced the car and he was very candid and open (don’t think he is happy with dealership either). He told me, it had been a light service that was purely done to get the stamp. Mechanic also said he knew about the oil leak . He also said he would have walked away from the car.

The problem you have is Dealership.

Most are snakes.

Only 1 or 2 you can trust.

Well I found some snakes. Interestingly they keep preaching these customers values of the company but not actually adhering to them

Did you have the vehicle checked by independent testing centre. They could have discovered these faults, wether it was in an accident or was rebuilt as code 3 before you even bought it. As a rule of thumb, i don't buy cars without having them independently tested.
