Sole Proprietorship...Register or Not?

Hi guys,

Currently looking into establishing a sole proprietorship.
In short an opportunity has presented itself, but while I test the waters I'm figuring to run as a SP. Once it shows real promise I will reconsider.

I've had a look around the web and I'm getting loads of conflicting information regarding registrations of SP's.

Some say they must be registered. Others dont.

Any advice?

You don't have to register a sole proprietorship at all. You can register the name...

You must register your trading name that is basically it. This is actually a dilemma in SA as many companies have not registered trading names associated with subsidiaries, divisions etc. There is another thread detailing this in-depth.

Next up is to pay your tax when the time comes.
