MyBB still calling this a solar tariff?

Pathetic.

This is what news has become. Opinion pieces and misplaced conclusions drawn by pisspoor journalists

The lowest users are probably indigents and they are exempted from any water or electricity connection fees. Thieves are also exempted. The DA is also planning to give the indigents and thieves free solar systems in the Cape.
So at last it sunk in that you won't be charged a levy for solar?

Eskom KNOWS that once it looses its paying customers to solar its totally screwed then.
Eskom dishes out free electricity to the so called 'indigent' as a away of appeasing the mass voting public that keeps this useless government in power.
It needs revenue like all the other battling SOEs.

recoup the billions owed, before you hound the law abiding, tax paying, rate paying citizens

So the article in the link still says solar tarriff, then Jan went to change it to 0khw users.

From one to the next. Why not simply write "low consumption users", even though they are redefining the definition of low consumption to include a vast amount of people.

Oh. Then it's not as clickbaity

Are you saying the article stating that the levy is targeting solar users and it is 100% accurate?
What is incorrect about it? Does the names of taxes matter? Like in the Cape where the jojo tank levy was introduced during the drought to make up for their losses because of their own failure to plan. Then you come along and scream "there is no jojo tank levy!". DA renamed it to water connection levy = socialist word games, screw the tax payers.

Explain to me how a normal household - that actually pays for electricity - can afford to use more than about 900kWh per month?

Our reading is often around 1000kWh a month, it's a costly affair. This month (28 days) it's 801kWh (thanks loadshedding?) and that is costing R2282.50.

Yeah... that hurts.

We've cut our electricity use as much as possible by now: gas stove, all LED lighting, energy efficient appliances, not running the AC/swimming pool/electric heaters/tumble dryer/iron, etc. And even then it is 720-950 kWh per month for a family of 4 (lately on the lower side: We previously used a desktop as a server etc. that was on 24/7, this has been replaced by a Raspberry Pi4 since).

Names of taxes are thumbsucked by sensationalist journalists and it's exactly what you want to hear, even though it's proposed tax for EVERYONE under a certain threshold.

No offense but you are delusional, falling for cadre words. Its a tax for EVERYONE is what the cadres say, if you believe this lie then we can not debate.

So this is indeed a tax reserved only for those that have solar, and NOT everyone under a certain (ridiculously high) threshold?

This is just Eskom fearmongering to stem or dent the tide of solar panel installations. They will never legally succeed with this plan.
Just like they will never succeed in getting increases far above inflation?
