Solidarity takes legal action against illegal importation of Cuban engineers

Labour union Solidarity has announced it has started a legal process against Minister of Human Settlements, Water, and Sanitation Lindiwe Sisulu over the importation of Cuban engineers for water infrastructure projects in South Africa.

In a legal letter to the minister, Solidarity asked the recently announced Cuban engineering programme be suspended immediately and that assurance be provided regarding the legality of the Cubans’ licensing and registration.

“It appears that the Minister’s decision to import Cuban engineers is not only foolish and immoral, but also illegal,” Solidarity stated.

Good on Solidarity for this.

This bollocks must be challenged, there are more than sufficient skills in this country to do the work and mentoring that is being thrown around by Sisulu, and for a much lower figure.
like pi$$ing again the wind,
next time the ANC will simply do these things in Secret, like they normally do when they rent cars and get "donations"

What they failed to mention, those Cubans are practically refugees.... They definitely don't wanna go back to Cuba. Even SA's current sad state is, is still like 'first world' compared to Cuba which is an absolute dump.

Can the minister also please explain why she is importing engineers from Cuba while thd internationational community has blocked them? I would just love to hear the BS....

To me what makes absolutely no sense whatsoever is why we are importing doctors and engineers from a country that is so poor and chaotic that it makes South Africa look like a first-world paradise. I haven't been to Cuba myself, but friends who have gone on holiday there have said that it is the proverbial sh*t-hole.

Its kind of difficult to do these things in secret when as an Engineer they cannot do anything without being registered with ECSA.

The ANC can bring them in in secret but when they get out to the municipalities things will slip out and problems arise because any work these engineers have done or signed off on becomes legally questionable since they're not registered.

It pretty much is a sh*thole. My BF's best friend went there on holiday a year or so ago and she was on a tight budget so stayed with the locals there. They pretty much live on beans. Seriously...beans ... that is all they can get. She said you can go to a nicer hotel, but the general populace no matter where they live etc, it is absolute poverty. You get sh*t areas, and then you get sh*ttier areas. That is pretty much Cuba for you. She loved it though. Somehow with all that poverty, the locals are friendly and very welcoming. At least that was her experience.

And that is exactly what the ANC / EFF loves... They don't want some poor and some rich people... they want everyone and equally poor (except the few self enriched gov-tied elites, because else it won't be pure marxism).

at least they have all those classic American cars, they still keep going.
maybe they can import a few here, and show our taxi boys how you keep a Hiace going.

You are aware that the vast majority of those "classic" American cars are now just bastardised beyond anything even resembling what they were originally hey.

How exactly are they going to do that?
the way they normally do these things, land the airplane at waterkloof AFB,
bring in a dozen police vehicles and a few busses, and take them to some "compound" like little Havana someplace and say they are there for something else.

the ANC is very good at lying, had lots of practice at it.

The irony of communism is that it is actually capitalism that has been completely and utterly concentrated in the hands of the state, and state is actually just a front for a bunch of thieving thugs and gangsters.

And then what? They just sit in their little compound?

but its still cool, they have kept them going this long.
I mean many of them are what now? 60 odd years old, and still they exist.

got to say impressive.
