Final days of the SABC TV Licence

Communications minister Solly Malatsi has said he is revising the South African Broadcasting Commission's (SABC) funding model so that the entity can sustain itself while the SABC Bill is in development.

This follows Malatsi's questioning in the National Assembly after he decided to withdraw the Bill from Parliament at the end of 2024, deeming it ineffective.

One suggestion that the SABC has already made is a household levy in place of the TV licence
Yeah they want every household in SA to pay even if you don't have a TV.
:X3:

Never going to happen but still they persist.

SARS collecting the levy is also never going to happen. The only government entities capable of collecting levies from households (as opposed to individuals and juristic entities) are the municipalities, and we all know how well-run they are....

He is not revising anything.

His underlings are revising it and he is presenting it as his own work... what term do they call this in University again?

TVs are going to be sold out everywhere in SA the day they finally officially scrap the license.

Get Eskom to collect. That means if you dont have electricity you cant watch SABC. 🤣🤣😂

Everything the ANC scum has touched has turned to effluent as they try turn EVERYTHING into a cadre enrichment scheme.
