Some feedback after a week on the 4MB line

I just want to share my experiences on the 4MB line after a week and see if it's in line with what you guys are seeing. As you can see by the DSL Status (Linksys WAG354G) below, everything is right (SNR & Attenuation) to get the full 4MB's etc.

My observations - The line is very stable. On all local speed tests etc it maxes out at about 1.8MB's, but never goes below 1.5MB's. I've never seen anything near 4MB's, but I'm not complaining. I get the full +-200KB's download speed on files from International Sites such a Nvidia etc, browsing and opening new links is quick and streaming is very decent.

All, in all I'm happy (Would like to get closer to 3MB's if possible)

you must be on saix cause my 4mbit on IS at the moment:

Took at least 30 to 40seconds to load this page.
Syncing at 4096.
Currently cannot download more than 80kb/s on http / ftp downloads international and local unless its off ftp.is.co.za

The news server is currently down, though ive been ,maxing out at around 440, 450kb/s there.

So what i think of 4mbit, well today, its worse than my 384 and im pissed!

Find local to be awesome. - 350kb/sec
Find International to be saddening :( 10kb/sec to 50kb/sec

Getting the full sync speed with decent SNR and line attenuation.

I have found the line to be very touchy in terms of speed fluctuation. Over the last two days the local speeds seem to have evened out, but international goes anywhere from 600bps to 50kb/sec (on the same site, so not a slow server).

I am pleased with this service, but would be more so were international actually a decent speed.

i know, that why I find it strange that I max out at 1.8....weird.....should be flying. Not the router as I've used a Netgear DG834 as well. Identical story

Hehe, yeah something like that. My RSS feed program crashed, so I lost all feeds ... then I went oversees ... so ... something like that ... ok got it ... 1MB ADSL upgraded to 4MB ADSL for some customers ... is that about right?

Well seems like im the more lucky one here.

Also have the upto 4mb line for about a month now and i get a minimum of 2.2mbps and average at 3.2mbps

Once i got maxed at 4.2kbps...strange that even possible?

Any downloads from internation rate at average of 420kb/sec

Anyways...im happy :D still hate telkom though.... just a small little less :p
