Yes I am also sure the news team's been sitting on this Raru story for awhile now and prob published their findings strategically based on the vast amount of complaints from customers...hoekom sal ons nou slapende honde wakker maak...totdat hulle begin blaf...

They could have saved a lot of 'customers' from being scammed.

Was ur account also credited for days on end? And when sending sn enquiry email was told your request was with the "finance dept"
Exactly the same situation. ‘Your refund request is with our refunds department’ (they only have a handful of staff).
They claim 30 working days is required for the refund. I also opened a case with the Goods and Services Ombudsman and RARU refused to respond to them. My case has been referred to the consumer complaint commission. I get the feeling there is some shady stuff going on. The most horrifying thing is that MBB could’ve stepped in earlier-they were aware of the problem.

Someone is being extra naughty before Christmas... once you go ponzi you can't go back.

Long story short. Avoid Raru, or swing by their offices for your refund. What are they going to do? Call the cops

Contact your bank and ask for a reverse. Visa and Mastercard give you 120 days.

I'm very late to this thread, but this is why people only stick to the bigger guys lie TAL. The more of these stories that come out, the more it'll push customers to Takealot (and later) Amazon.

But also commenting the below from the article ... it's really too late to switch. The damage is done and switching to hold more stock should have happened a year back already

Raru could switch back to a model where it holds more stock in its warehouse to mitigate some of its lead-time woes, but this may require a short-term cash injection for the company to increase its stock-on-hand.

Raru web-site is currently down and they are not responding to any of my emails over the last couple of days regarding a delayed order. Also, no-one is answering the customer support telephone number...

This feels rather ominous...
