Hello,

So I just upgraded my telkom Line Rental to a 4meg line. My ISP is Imaginet (these guys are pimps, but like the good kind) which is a 512kb line.

my flatmates and I thought that it would be a good idea to get an upgrade from our ISP: a four meg line. But when speaking to the tech dude at the sales desk, he recommended that I wait till the end of the month and look at the how our speed increases. (u must understand that telkom put us on a 384kb line whilst our ISP was 512: thus the telkom line upgrade).

What the dood was that there wont be much an increase if our ISP upgraded to a four meg line.

Can anyone give me their opinions, or advice?

Thanks...

If you've got a 4mbps line then get a 4mbps ISP package too else your wasting your money. The alternative is to drop the telkom line back down to whatever the ISP package is.

Effectively the actual speed you get is the lower of the two.

Huh? If you upgrade your Telkom line to 4mbps, not upgrading your ISP account to the same speed is pure madness. And if you're on an uncapped package, prepare to pay.
