Okay,

Remember not so long ago I swore to NEVER get a speeding fine.

Well, I have.
I was doing 73 in a 60 zone.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the picture, you can't see who is driving.

Now, it could've been my boss driving (he does 90% of the driving and some days I stay at the office) or it could've been me, but I'm very careful with the speeds I drive, if it says 120, I do 110 (or border it on 120) - if it was 80, I do 80 or 75ish.

I would like to think this was my boss driving because MR has 10 fines on his name and I only have 0 so clearly he doesn't wanna accept this was him because then he would have 11!

Anyways, I'm going to investigate more before I accept this fine (me being the driver) - if it was, I'll gladly pay it.

Oh - It's R100.

Thus the thread title... Son of a ... !!!!

only R100?

Just get the timestamp of the pic .. then trace your office schedule to see when you/him were driving & where.

I once crept over a stop sign in the safest area of the neighbourhood and got a R500 fine (reduced to R300).

The traffic cop, incidentally, wasn't a son of a bitch. Just a bitch.

R100? They really need to step up the fines and start adding points.

The insurance companies need to be brought in on the act and raise premiums for the lead-food brigade.

I thought whoever is driving is irrelevant. The fine rests with the owner of the vehicle.?

Your boss drives your car?

I've asked to see the work book for the day in question which was the 4th May 2009.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooo sure it was not me, but knowing my luck, it probably was but I'm not accepting it "JUST" yet :)

Company vehicle or your vehicle? You shouldn't have a company vehicle in your own name?

It's not off topic though. Whoever the fine is addressed to is responsible for the fine. So what are you stressing about if the fine isn't in your name?

Well since you both drive the car and can't really be sure of who was driving at the time just both pay in R50 and call it even?

Its not who is responsible for the fine, its just proper to pay the fine if you were driving. Its the principle of the thing

No, because in the picture, there is someone driving but there isn't another person in the passenger seat (that you can see)

So it's either him or me.

I'd go with "him" but that's just cause I don't wanna pay the fine ;) haha.

I'm all for principles but how would one be able to establish who was driving when? You can't see whose in the car. So then just pay half each since you are both responsible for the vehicle and be done with the moral dilemna :D.

I remember my first fine very well. Driving from Piketberg to Durbanville one morning and late for an exam. The road was deserted and so I put the foot down. Next minute 2 elderly traffic officers jumped in the road and pulled me off. Here comes the best part, they were actually pleasant and wrote the ticket with a smile and apologizing for it. The were frying sausage on the "skottel" and even offered me some. Anyway, so I got the R600 fine down to R150. You've gotta love the "Swartland Cops.
