According to a BusinessWeek Online report, some developers are actually steering resources away from the PS3 in favor of the more affordable Wii from Nintendo and even the Xbox 360. Hirokazu Hamamura, president of publisher and game industry researcher Enterbrain, believes that Sony's next-gen console might not be a smash hit the way previous PlayStation systems have been. "Many developers think the console's initial high price will lead to slow sales and are holding off on creating games for Sony," Hamamura explained.

Just saw on Megagames.com that the first PS3's are being rolled out, there are even now conspiracy theories that Sony will have more PS3's than orginally planned for the launch, sneaky buggers pushing up the prices lol.

 @ useless

That Asustek rumour is that they'll be manufacturing 200k units a month. which means that if they're at full capacity now, they'll have maximum 800k units by launch date. Ouch!

to be honest, i think Sony can still get away with this winning... simply label the PS3 to a next-gen Microwave with a builtin PSP! :D

That's what happens when you make a console to next-gen (i.e. developers find it very complicated to create a workable game) compared to Wii/360.

I also heard they rolled out the developer fits extremely late.

No I believe they've been having those since they first heard how hard it was to program for ;)
