Sony has come out and said that they don't pay for exclusives or offer any development incentives to companies for exclusive rights...

Not sure what they are thinking but this does clarify how they have managed to lose so many exclusives in the last year.... E3 next week... which exclusive do you think they are going to lose this time?

Wierd.

"So Sony does not offer the developer any incentive what so ever to develop games for it’s system. What it does currently offer it a complicated architecture, buggy development tools and a small user base."

That kindof explains a lot of things. I guess the PS3 is just too cool to require any actual marketing.

Instead of looking for excuses for the lack of games why doesnt Sony frigging make some for a change? Having enough of these lame CEO excuses from such an arrogant company. At least MS seem to have done their homework in delivering a gaming console and not a video player with PS2 emulation like Sony did.

Do Microsoft/Nintendo offer an incentives?

Microsoft was rumoured to pay Take Two $50 million for GTA IV exclusive content....

So yeah they pay... lots..

Some games are system sellers so the console manufacturers pay them to guarantee sales.

Like Gears of War 2.. Sony will never get it. Microsoft would have lined Epics pockets so well now that they are exclusive for life.

*sigh* Will this PS3 bashing ever stop?

Why dont people who adhore Sony & the PS3 ever see the truth? Does it hurt to much to turn a blind eye to reality?

Its amazing how loyalty is fanatical and personal at times. ;)

It makes sense to offer incentives. Why else would a developer choose to limit their market by not producing their product for every available platform, except in cases where developing for a particular platform is too costly to be viable. In those circumstances there would be even more reason to offer them a financial incentive.

I wonder if Sony is not still relying on the popularity of the PS2 and the assumption that every PS2 owner is a guaranteed PS3 buyer. The PS2 represented a big market so there may not have been a need to pursuade developers to create games for it once it gained momentum. Maybe not at all if the popularity of the PS1 was a big factor.

Maybe I was unclear, Epic is not exclusive. Gears of War is exclusive...

Epic will develop for anyone... Interesting link though... It goes against what Sony has said

Microsoft do own Bungie, thats how Halo 2 got released for the xbox and not the PC when originally it was slated to be a pc game....

What Sony America have said. Do they have as much pull as the mothership in the East?

Actually it's just enthusiastic gamers discussing the current console environment. I can see how that can get confused with PS3 bashing, but thats Sony's fault for making such a mess of things.

Should we have a forum where you can only post good news about the PS3? Be fairly empty though. Just like Sony console divisions profits.

No, not really. It seems that the 360 crowd just spend more time reading up on the PS3 than on the 360. I don't have a problem with discussing whatever news on the PS3, but you always get sarcastic comments like...

Just because one console is selling less than another, doesn't mean it isn't doing well. Otherwise we might as well say the 360 is doomed because the Wii is outselling it. Last time I checked the PS3 has sold more than 3 million. Not bad at all.
