Sony Xperia S to get ICS by May-end

Sony’s Xperia S may have been a hit, owing to its great camera, but the fact that it’s still running Gingerbread has been a bit of a turn off for many. Worry not though, as Sony plans on rolling out the ICS update towards the end of May or early June. Users in India will be getting the update around this time as well, although it’s not entirely certain if everyone will at the same time, due to the phase-wise roll-out. Sony announced this through a support forum, "Xperia S is planned to get ICS somewhere around late May/early June. That's what's been said and that's still what we're sticking to. Any other dates (such as "June/July") is just speculation," They also added, “The roll out is, as always, gradual and will not happen overnight for all phones. Some phones might get the update in late May whilst other will get in mid-June.” If you don’t get it by May end, then chances are that you’ll get it in the first week of June, but whatever happens, Sony will update all their Xperia S handsets to ICS by mid-June.

Well so far its on tract.

The only product I know that has been pulled from the line-up is the Xperia Play but that was because of speed/experience something the Xperia S does not lack.

Well at least Sony(Ericsson) are consistent. They were dead last with the Éclair to Froyo updates as well, one of the last to Gingerbread and they're continuing the tradition.

Unlike some companies who were the first to get Froyo and are now pulling a Duke Nukem Forever *cough* Motorolla *cough* :whistling:

Lucky you, seems that my model number is not up for the upgrade yet.

However, I did get ICS on my old Xperia Arc.

O.O

Guess its time I go fetch mine out the draw and charge her up. Are you on Cell C/Voda/MTN ?

Vodacom.
For some reason looking for the upgrade via the phone did not work but I have the software on my XP virtualbox.
Just did the upgrade through there.

Install the software that comes with the phone and try through there.

Did my upgrade last night via PC. Lots of starting and stopping. Eventually got the upgrade working through SUS.
It was a system upgrade and the ICS upgrade.:)

Some nice improvements.

So glad I no longer have to unlock and then unlock for one thing :)
My phone seems to run a little hotter now though when I use it.
