Sony has officially released firmware build 41.2.A.7.65 for the F8331. It has the following improvements:

All of the latest performance updates and improvements.
The latest security enhancements.
If you haven't previously updated your device to Android 7.0 or 7.1.1, the update announced here also includes the following features and improvements:

Android™ version 7.0 (Nougat) or Android™ version 7.1.1.
Multi-window support: Multitasking made easy - run two apps simultaneously, double tap to switch between them.
Longer battery life: Do more for longer, with improved battery life powered by Google and Xperia™.
Messaging: More ways to tell your story with Messaging - share videos and audio with a few taps.
Manual settings: Get creative with the all-new manual focus and shutter speed controls.
Home screen: A smarter and more personal Xperia™ home screen, with Google Now integration.
Improved Wi-Fi connection stability when connected to 5GHz DFS channels.
Improved sound stability with Bluetooth headphones using LDAC.
Updated Time Zone data.
Issue fixed: The Chinese keyboard is not shown when the Camera key of the Bluetooth Headset SBH56 is used.
Issue fixed: Low music volume after calls using a car kit with Android Auto

But in South Africa for some unknown reason we are still on 41.2.A.7.8??!!

Is there anyone that has been able to update above 41.2.A.7.8?

Good! then there is hope. Nothing available for me....I wonder if this is because of my IMEI number or because my service provider is MTN?

I think so

I've got the vodacom one with the vodacom splash on start up

Colleague's on MTN haven't received anything so im pretty sure it's provider dependent mtn, vodacom, Telkom etc etc

I am very negative about branded firmware and Vodacom loves doing it. I am thinking about installing European generic firmware as soon as downloads becomes available.

I still haven't received the update for my XZ... Have anyone that's not a Vodacom client, received the 41.2.A.7.65 update?

I read somewhere that this update has a
patch for the BlueBorne malware but I have seen no confirmation from Sony....
I downloaded a BlueBorne scanner and it confirmed that my XZ is is not vulnerable to it anymore

So to put it in perspective... there is a bit of a delay in receiving security updates because of local service provider's meddling, but Sony is on the ball !

I still have a Z3 that my son is using, its more than 3 Years old and won't be getting a update. I suppose the minimum one can hope for is that your device is supported for the length of your contact : 2 years in technology terms is like a decade!

On 4 October Sony released their October security/firmware update for the Xperia XZ Build 41.2.A.7.76.. I asked someone at MTN if they could possibly release this to us before November. The person seemed flabbergasted and had never heard of monthly updates unless there's something wrong with the device! If they don't even know about Google's policy of monthly security updates for Android... how could they possibly know what to check for before they release a update?!

After using the 41.2.A.7.65 firmware for nearly two weeks I can conclude that it's solved the BlueBorne Bluetooth problem and the battery care setting seems to work much better. In the past it had trouble to determine my schedule and if I deviate it got confused. On Antutu benchmark it didn't show any improvement although the 3D tests seems to run smoother.

We finally got security/ firmware Build 41.2.A.7.76 on 4 November ....so MTN cannot make the October security patch, that was released by Sony on 4 October, available before 4 November! I wonder if they would mind if I paid my account a month later?
