How do those video tests actually work, cause obviously you can't get 20hrs screen on time?

from the site:
HOW WE TEST
To measure a smartphone's battery life, we run a continuous video playback test. We made the video file using a handful of chapters from Spiderman 2, encoded to H.264 and looped to epic lengths. We then playback the file and record the sound being outputted from a pair of headphones, allowing us to measure how long the file played for before the battery failed. In Android, we've always used MX Player for playback, but for Windows and iOS devices, we use the phone's internal video player. We also turn off any automatic brightness and sleep settings and set brightness to a uniform level.

I read that, but it's a bit vague... I can't see how the screen on would last 20hrs, and how do you play a video with the screen off?
Maybe the screen is set to an extremely low brightness :/

The Z3 Compact has battery life that lasts 3 days with normal use. 20hours on screen time seems believable to me.

I got over 11 hours screen-on time when reading a book on my Note 2, so if you are only watching movies and nothing else, you can get to that screen-on time.

If you put the Z3 Compact in Airplane mode I'm sure you'll get 20hours video playback.

I got 18 days on my Tab4 7" by leaving it in Airplane mode and just disable it when I use it.

First impressions after an evening with the phone, bearing in mind my previous phone was an Xperia V:

Likes

Very fast performance
Quick startup/restart
Much better sound during phone calls
Doesn't heat up as much as the V, esp when playing with the camera

Dislikes

Icon size is too big, cannot fit as many as I did on the V
Unable to resize icons
Not as easy to access settings with the new drop down slider, and cannot choose to have quick settings only

Now to find a glove/case

Icon size... just install a launcher like nova and resize anything, even increase the grid on home screens etc
