False positive. Turned out to be some dumb Sony software. And so the wait continues... :(

Got the same version. No crashes with Google Drive. Do the apps crash immediately when you open them, or only when you try to do something specific.

Facebook was crashing as soon as I opened it. I uninstalled, waiting an hour and re-installed and now it is working.

Google Drive is still crashing, it does so while I'm using other apps or not doing anything at all.

I haven't had problems with those apps, but I have noticed that the frequency of random crashes in hangouts/whatsapp has increased a bit. Also noticed a bit of lag building up, especially when typing, sometimes the characters take a while to show up after I finish type. I'm still waiting for the marshmallow update to come through and see if it helps. If that doesn't work then I might do a factory reset to see if that sorts it out.

also been seeing a lot of apps updating, and afterwards some apps start crashing.

right now it's LinkedIn.

it's not space as I have >2Gb free on internal memory and 4Gb free on my SD card

I upgraded my Z3 to version 6.0.1 this afternoon, using the Sony Xperia Companion app on my PC.

I got 6.0.1 yesterday morning, OTA on Vodacom. Download was 1018 MB if I remember correctly.

Some new features, some new ways of doing things, looks a little more refined. Not sure about battery life yet.

Downloaded last night too. Going to be interesting without Stamina mode, but seems fine. Batter dropped from 85%-80% overnight, and that was with a lot of alarm snoozing...

Yeah so im so far unimpressed.

Theres no more stamina mode(which i used to run most of the time),
my unread whatsapp badges aren't working,
weird issues where google play services kept on asking me to update when it was already updated,
some of the sony widgets are gone,
thats all the negatives atm.

On the plus side,
seems to be closer to stock android, but not as much as motorola,
couple UI changes here and there,
Double Tap to sleep(but for some reason it locks the screen immediatly),

Anybody find anything else worthwhile?

Thanks. Based on your experience [-]looks like it's a go for me then.[/-] <-- refer post below

1. Ah, I don't use that, so no loss
2. Have you tried to reinstall Whatsapp to see if that fixes it
3. See 2 above
4. Hardly use those
5. Good
6. Neutral
7. Mine is set to do that on 5.1.1 so no change for me.

Hmm, scanning the web for feedback and it appears that it may be better to hold on until a further update is made available.

Amongst the things that people are reporting are wifi, LTE and stuttering bluetooth issues - all of which I use extensively.

Reckon I'm going to hold off for a bit.

Edit:

From XDA

My car just keeps refusing to connect to my ZC3 via bluetooth ever since MM... Any ideas to a solution?

That's a dealbreaker for me - definitely not going to update now.

More issues:
Black screen and alarm issues

1. A few moments after restarting the phone I experience a black screen. The only way to get the phone back is to hold down the power button until the Power off/Restart/Back/Home screen icons appear and then return to the home screen. This seems to happen only once, after turning on or restarting the phone.

2. The bigger issue. When the alarm goes off, it only shows the wallpaper, it doesn't show the alarm, or the snooze button, or the swipe to turn off icon. The only way to turn the alarm off is to hold down the power button until Power off/Restart shows and then restart the phone. Interestingly, this glitch doesn't occur when I take the phone out of its case; out of the case, the alarm seems to work fine, but when returned to the case, the issue returns. If I set the side keys to dismiss, it will dismiss the alarm and the phone returns to normal - but I don't always want to dismiss the alarm, some mornings I want to snooze, so this doesn't really solve the problem for me.

So i can already atest to the black screen issue. Happened to me a little while ago where the phone became completely unresponsive and had to hold the power button down. Only when the power menu came up did the screen come on and become responsive again.

In hindsight i don't know why i did this, generally always safer to wait for a second release.
