So we got a suggestion from IT, if we want a free antivirus for home to use Sophos.

Anyone here had experience with it or using it?

I would personally suggest Avast. I have not had any issues with it and it catchs some things others dont from my testing.

Sophos is alright I just dont like the web interface and centralized control for everything.

Also, once installed, Sophos turns out to be near impossible to de-install.
My PC changed domains, and it is basically on my PC, with no way to deinstall it, even if my user is in the sophos admin group.

As suggested, rather go with Avast, AVG, etc.

Windows Defender and an adblocker should be fine enough. I used Avast for many years but it started to slow down my PC.

Better yet - don't use free antivirus. You can pick up a year of Avira on G2A for less than R50.

Avira won Product of the Year for 2016 from av-comparatives.org.
