I did my own research on this as well. Superficially it seems as if we are getting good value for money compared to other countries. I'm not complaining about the rates.
I'm not complaining about the 2 year contracts either.
But, I would love to see a range of post paid contracts without the contract-and-freebie phone stuff. Why should I replace my very good working phone after 2 years only not to loose out on the deal? I would love to continue with my current number on a month-to-month basis with the operator of choice.
ICASA has made fools of themselves this round.
I don't believe they should tamper with the cellphone rates except for mandating a "post paid no freebies" month to month contract regime as well.
