Sound soft on avi's, can hear background noises but actors voices soft. I am on Windows 7

I bet you're watching 5.1 surround sound films with stereo speakers.

just change the audio in the video you watching, eg. right click in the video>audio>channel>stereo

The audio player should pickup the default in windows, so you might have windows setup to use 5.1 audio.

Well the music is louder than the actors voices

When I go to the test audio in CPL the sound for the left comes through both earphones and for the right.

"Downgrade" to Windows 7 32-bit.

(I'm seriously sick of all the 64-bit driver issues, but I don't know how much stress it would be to migrate from 64 to 32 bit or vice versa.)

I just checked and even mp3's are a issue.........and I am running 64bit Win 7
