Is there any way to stop Firefox playing any sounds whatsoever?

I'm talking about adverts which make a noise when you move the mouse over them, or websites which play a theme song when they load.

It's annoying.

Opera?

Tools --> Quick Preferances --> uncheck "Enable Sound In Webpages"

What a las to downlaod a exstension just for that tiny bit of functionality, and then upadte it all the time nad have it not work with newer versions.. tut tut. FF could at least try putting a bit more into the default Firefox. And maby code better, Opera is smaller despite all of its features.

Apparently Opera doesn't have a spell-check. :p

@ajak: Thanks.

Well apparently FF doesnt have... ja well I could list for about ever right now.

And a spell check as the ONE major new feature in a whole new release of FireFox. Opera 9 came with a tiny bit more...

Download Google Taskbar for FiFo! It is well worth it and it spell checks too!

Opera isn't as configurable as FiFo my friend. At least not yet.

Well id disagree about configurable. Opera is probably more configurable than FF, but not in term of extra functionality. ie. It doesnt have exstensions but you can change more options or at least the same amount.
Like the point of this thread, you cant turn sound off in FF with out downloading a whole new exstension which could be hard to find, yet its three clicks away in Opera.

Opera does however have JSscript files, which can do some things for you like set google image search links to go directly to the page etc..

And now there are widgets too..

But above that the actual browser is so superior, with many or most feautres already built in.

for such a superior browser, you sure have to do a lot of marketing... ;)

lol.. i know.

But Opera doesnt get much rep at all around the internet.
Half the sites you go to these days have the "Use FF" or "Take back the Web" logos. Ive never sen Opera advertised. So its my job to put down FF everytime someone mentions it :p
