as an anarchist, I like the idea of Zuma coming into power. It's going to hasten the start of the end game of SA, in my view.

one of the reasons things are trudging on and getting more chaotic and violent, is this idea of a free democratic society, which only briefly existed under Mandela, and has clearly moved in another direction since then.
There's like a murky cloud overlaying the actual situation, which is only visible if one can put aside ones own baggage or notions of patriotism, or 'hopes'.

so to have someone as 'tribally focused' and as monumentally stupid as Zuma, who has idea's on a par with a peasant from the 1700's (like truly believing that 'washing off the AID'S virus' with a shower, can work) - is a Good Thing, in my view.

It won't be too long before the facade of rainbow nation/democratic SA etc all begin to fall away, and the iron fist of the usual African dictator with too much money and power, begins to make itself very visible.
Thereafter, all the whiny people who've been able to delude themselves up until now, as they cower behind 15 foot high fortified electric fences, and pretend that its a situation which can 'improve' somehow, will have no mental place left to run to in terms of avoiding the reality of their situation.

speculators have been predicting the end of the world for the last 20 centuries and longer but guess what?

Excellent post. And i really believe that... people are so blind to whats going on in this country... They live in a dreamworld. I believe Zuma WILL win, will become president... and things will start moving downhill (like they already are) FAST. The question is this... will South Africans finally WAKE UP to whats happening and decide not to keep these useless buffoons (ANC) in power... or will we keep ignoring it and hoping somehow by magic, things will just get better by itself one day.

People really do live in a dreamworld, a lot of them anyway.

Quite a good article:

Very true. You'd be scared to see how ignorant some people are . I've been called a racist, apartheid-apologist etc just for showing some of my school mates statistics from websites like Nation Master. And that's just the crime issue: I don't even tell them what I think about affirmative action/BEE, government nepotism/corruption, lack of service delivery etc. because I think I'll end up in a hospital. (So much for respecting each others views ). The funny thing is, their defense of South Africa is so childish, a Grade 1 could've formulated their responses.

Edit: And all their responses are stock-standard stuff. "What you doing to help the country?", "Things will improve..", "crime is only worse because white people are getting affected" etc.

I used to have this as my sig:

"There are none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know."

I still think it applies to a lot of people here (SA), it often seems like people don't really have a logical basis to their beliefs but they're just so desperate to hang on to them anyway for fear of what the reality actually could be.

I may be wrong and I hope I am wrong but as far as I can see SA's future is unfortunately pretty self-evident. Facts are what they are, they can't be changed by positive thinking.

Without positive thinking the battle is already half lost.

Yes, the immediate future may not appear to be very rosy, but you are forgetting one important factor here --> the hand of God. Noah's Ark ver 2.0 is already upon us (whether you see it or not;) ) and although slower than ver 1.0, you will see the real effects in no less than 10 years.

And no, I'm not crazy:D.

What does Noah's Ark have to do with anything?

Some people believe that the world is coming to an end with all the recent epidemics, tsunamis, earthquakes, global warming, etc. The more fervent religious people actually believes that the true believers will be saved with another Noah's Ark. I have a problem with this exclusivity as ver 1.0 actually saved some wusses (Noah and company and millions of insects) and I think here is wishful thinking on a large scale.

It's mostly Jehovah witnessess that believe that.

The world comes to an end when you die. I believe there is an afterlife with God but of course, time, is taken out of the equation and this takes away the problematic aspects that some people can't understand.
