1) Johann Rupert: R82.35 billion
2) Nicky Oppenheimer: R72.6 billion
3) Christo Wiese: R34,67 billion
4) Patrice Motsepe: R29.26 billion
5) Koos Bekker: R14 billion
6,7,8) Allan Gray, Stephen Saad, Desmond Sacco: Around R14 billion nett worth each

I always question these lists because surely this is only the declared wealth. I reckon Christo Wiese is significantly wealthier than R34.67billion.

Pretty much only wealth that people can calculate due to company shares etc.

There is loads of private wealth that doesn't even make the list.

Same goes for the debt, who knows how much debt they really do have.

People with those amounts of money have debt for only the right reasons. Leveraging money to make more money within calculated risks.

Not always, some empires are built on debt.

Look at Batista in Brazil !
